Remember this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va38UzBmI0E&feature=related

I can remember when I could hardly wait to watch movies that were on regular TV back in the 80's.

There was always a good made for TV movie on.

Now...I never see a good made for TV movie, ever.

What happened?

The thing I want to know about reality Tv...is why did it take over everything...I can see it being on a few channels, but it is on EVERY channel. How come there can't be both?

I wish I knew, I guess the network brain trust think it's more economically feasible to have minimal script, acting, writing, etc. Strip it to the bare bones, amateur, half-a%#ed **** that it is.

I dont know if Im allowed to tell you about websites (if Im not then someone delete this) but you can watch some cool made for TV movies on this site: http://cultrarevideos.com/tvmovies.html

I tryed to watch DYING ROOM ONLY starring Cloris Leachman the other day and it kept freezing up on me. Hopefully, you'll have better luck.

Certainly one thing I miss a lot from the 80s is these highly professional movie opens. They always got you in the mood, and even if the film itself wasn't any good, you'd tune in just to watch the intro (now I think CBS's best was the late 80s version with the sliding neon purple marquee and Bill Conti's rousing theme, although it's still 3rd on my overall list behind HBO's long running space opening and ABC's "star tunnel" intro used for much of the decade). Too bad time contraints have rendered them largely irrelevant in today's day and age. But at least we'll always have the memories.

i was never big on made for tv movies, but one thing i noticed you don't see much anymore is the miniseries. there seemed to be a lot of those in the 80's.
