I just looked at a picture of Clint Eastwood, and he's 78 years old now- I still see him as "Dirty Harry", and even though movies like Sudden Impact came out when he was older than I am now...that doesn't seem that long ago, and he still looked really good...it seems like so many actors have aged tremendously just in the past 5-10 years...that it really is noticeable, and I keep wondering how they got to be that old.

Like I still picture Linda Evans, Joan Collins, Farrah Fawcett, Robert Redford, Jacklyn Smith, Robert DeNiro, Jane Fonda, and lots more-to look like they did in the 70's and 80's....because I know that Heather Locklear was in the same shows in the 80's...and she still looks really good...and
Danny Devito never changes....

but I really noticed how much Richard Gere has aged in the movie I saw him in last night- but I had thought he still looked good in "Shall We Dance"...and I think Susan Sarandon looks the same, and I think Geena Davis looks the same.

Like Robert Redford still looked awesome to me in the movie Indecent Proposal...that movie to me doesn't feel that it came out that long ago-
and neither did the movie Basic Instinct-but it has been awhile-but I think Michael Douglas looks like Kirk Douglas now.

Certain people though...it's catching up with them...and I can't believe how old they are getting.

I think Cheryl Tiegs and Bo Derek both stayed looking the same for 30 years....and they both still look good. So does Raquel Welch.

I feel like I am losing my sense of time...like
if I look at certain people I think wow they are old now....like I can't believe Olivia Newton John is 60-that seems impossible to me....

I just can't believe how old some people have become. I can remember watching them on TV...and I don't feel like I have changed ...so it is weird to see how much older people are.

I saw a recent picture of Arnold Schwartzenegger...and he must have stopped working out...because he was looking really bad....where as...Lou Ferrigno looks totally fantastic, and could still play the Hulk at 57 years old.

Who do you think has aged well....and who do you think hasn't?

I'm sure being Governor of California has cut down on his oppurtunities to work out.

Famous people showing their age just proves that they're just normal people who suffer from the same ailments as you and me. Only difference is they'r eput under a microscope more than some guy who owns a fish market in Pensacola, Florida.

I look at myself in the mirror and feel that in the past ten years I've probably aged closer to fifteen years. Good thing I always looked quite younger than my actual age. But my appearance is catching up to my actual age.

Why should Crystal, Philo Beddoe, Travis Bickle and Sandy Olesen be any different?

Wonder how much cosmetic work has been done on the celebs you mentioned still looking so good? Probably enough to fund debt relief for a third world country or enough for any of us to retire on. The person that comes to mind for me as aging extremely well would be Christie Brinkley. Aging has been extremely hard on Sly Stallone as can be easily seen in Rocky Balboa or Rambo. I'm a big Sly fan but man the cameras sure don't take the years off.........

I am not a big fan of plastic surgery so I sort of feel like a hypocrite when I see a celeb and go "Yikes, he got old!"

There are a lot of people nowadays who have totally gone overboard with plastic surgery and its really set a disgusting example of what passes for "beautiful " nowadays. On TMZ they are always showing this woman named Shauna Sand (I have no idea) and she is nipped and tucked and puffed up and all that and it just looks so WRONG to me. I hate all that botox ****, and I hate those trout pout lips that everyone seems to be getting.

Now - there are some people I suspect get plastic surgery but they do it "right". Morgan Fairchild looks great without looking phony. Sharon Osbourne (Ozzy's wife) has had lots of plastic surgery and looks natural. I saw Dolly Parton (she admits to having tons of plastic surgery) on HANNAH MONTANA and she looked better NOW then she did in 9 TO 5!!! (great figure too).

There was someone I must have had a crsuh on in the '80s who popped up on a TV show I was watching the other day and I was like "Wow- what the Hell happned to him??? " but I totally cant remember who it was! It might have been C Thomas Howell on that celebrity magic show they had on VH1. And you say to yourself "well, he's older now" but then you ALSO tell yourself "yeah, but he made movies with Lori Loughlin...and she STILL looks great!" so.........

Me and my husband love it when they show Clint Eastwoods old westerns on TV (and they show them a lot!) because- wow- look how young he was! I think we BOTH had a crush on him. ha ha ha

Talk about old. I just read on the internet that Adam West who is almost 80 is being sought out to do Dancing with the Stars. Why not try for Jack LaLane too! I can't wait to see who the cast will bring. It is funny to see some of our favorite 80s icons now and see how much different they look. It is funny but to me they will always look exactly the way that they did in the movies.

Did anyone hear that Paula Abdul was asked to do Dancing with the Stars??

She was a professional dancer...wasn't she? So, how could that be fair to anyone else?

I think Donny and Marie look great...but I saw Shaun Cassidy recently in pictures and I would never have known who he was. I think that it is really hard to grow old in show business...and the pressure on people has to be tremendous...but people like Meg Ryan and Melanie Griffith and Goldie Hawn-who have the money for GOOD plastic surgery...and end up looking awful....that is bad.

I watched that show where they do the extreme makeovers on people...it takes months to transform them...but they become absolutely beautiful....and I always wonder how shocking that is to transform in to someone completely different...and how it affects their relationships-I have seen a husband and wife who did it together.

I think if they can make those people look like they were born that way...because I never think those people look creepy looking when they are done...I think why can't celebrities stay looking better.

I know if I had access to spas and facials and manicures and massages and had a personal trainer and a personal chef and a hair stylist and a make up artist and had tons of money to buy the best skin care products on the planet....and someone to clean my house all day so I could concentrate on nothing but me...I know I'd be doing much better than I am now.

My whole thing about the age thing...is not so much about the looks...is that I can not believe how many people are over 60...and now it's getting to be who's going to die next?

It's sad to me...that there is only 1 of every person on the planet...and when they are gone they are gone...the only cool thing about being a celebrity is that it does immortalize you in film.

Anyone can be immortalized on film. All ya need is a recorder. Too many people (other than celebs) worry about aging and looks but you can't do anything about age so why worry. Everyone gets older there's nothing anybody can do about it. I'll be 33 in a few weeks and I'm not worried about it. To me, it's been another year of learning under my belt. If all I had to worry about was aging then I'd be a happy camper....

i'm going to be honest...

i am not thrilled about 'getting older.' but who is, really?
it's something i fear in some ways. i can't imagine being a little old lady though i know it's inevitable (sp).
this is my last year in my twenties and i make a big deal about it sometimes. it's harder for some people to accept, i guess.
but plastic surgery IS NOT an alternative for me. that's for people who are too into themselves and obsessed with their looks.

maybe one day, i'll find a way to embrace the though of getting old, but it's still something that's hard for me to think about.

Mamamia, those "trout pout lips" you mentioned look absolutely horrible, IMO!! And all these movie stars have them.

I don't believe in plastic surgery unless it's for someone who has been burnt badly or was in a bad accident or something. But I guess that might be considered more of reconstructive surgery. But just to have my boobs done, or my lips or have some lipo, forget it. I am what I am.

So true, that is…

As with so many things, life also isn’t fair on this matter. Like Isis pointed out: some people age well, some don’t. Some people will say "well, that’s just the way life goes, learn to accept it", but i can see why some people fear or hate getting older.
I don’t like it either... and I’m not a vain person at all. I guess 'getting older' is even harder to swallow for nostalgic people (like most of us?).

Nowheregirl, if my name was Edward Cullen, I’d give you eternal youth in a heartbeat. [Smile]

I am scared of getting old too...turning 40 in a few weeks is really doing a number on my head.

People tell me all the time that they can't believe I am THAT old...and I think that I feel like I am still in my 20's...but I know I really am almost 40. I don't think I am vain either...I know there are billions of people who look way better than me...I just like being me, and looking the way that I do now, and what scares me...is when you see a little old lady...with white hair and her glasses and wrinkles...you can't even tell what they would have looked like young...they just look like a little old lady....and they all start looking exactly the same. I don't want plastic surgery. I just don't want to be an old lady.
Getting older scares me more than dying.

Because I am deathly afraid of having a stroke and being put in a nursing home-that is my biggest fear-I'd rather be dead ...than spend my life laying in a bed waiting to die...with no privacy. I worked in a nursing home before, and I use to look at the pictures of the people I took care of, from when they were young and healty and they had awesome lives.

Sometimes I walk around cemeteries and look at the names of people, and I figure out how old they were when they died...how many kids they had, who their spouse was-when they got married-you can figure out alot about a person from their tombstone....and I think about what was it like to be alive when they were my age now.

Everyone is living in the moment...every second that passes...is a part of history, and you can never relive it again....so I always try and make the most out of life...and I do think there is much more to life than worrying about your looks, but it honestly does scare me. The thing about celebrities that I personally relate to...is when I was younger I had a ton of attention from people because of what I looked like, and people were always really nice to me..and men use to send me presents all the time, and it's hard to explain that to people...because it sounds so superficial...but that's another part of the 80's I miss. I had tons of boyfriends....and I was never bored because I went out all the time...and I had lots of friends...and everyone really put the effort in to what they looked like-I always dressed up to go on a date...or even to go out with my friends....I hardly ever wore jeans or sneakers...I always had on mini skirts and boots and high heels, and dresses and blazers and dress pants, and I miss that. You don't even see celebrities dressed up much any more.
I always thought older people who were rich-always looked great, and that they didn't seem like they aged badly.

I always thought older men with gray hair ... who were nicely tanned and wore preppy clothes...that they looked good no matter how old they were...but I never see men like that any more...and rich older women who dressed really glamourous-but age appropriate...and had their hair styled fashionable but youthful looking-that they looked good.

I personally think that if your older...you can still look great...it's all a matter of taking pride in yourself.

Why sit around and worry about having a stroke and being put in a nursing home? Worrying too much may eventually cause a stroke. I see it this way: Everybody worries and stresses about different things that's life. Whatever happens happens nothing can be changed. Enjoy life to the fullest. I've personally never sit around and worried about having a stroke. I usually have millions of other things on my mind that's currently going on at the moment. The thing that gets me are these older women I see in my job daily. I work in retail management so I constantly see these women with the face of a 70 year old and the legs of a 25 year old. If your gonna sink money into plastic surgery why not just go ahead and get the works lol...

I am not sitting around worrying about having a stroke...I am starting to worry about the things that happen to you when you get older...not that I spend all day thinking about it...but when I look at people I watched on TV...and they look really old...it hits me harder than I am getting old too right along with them...and I can't say I like it. I keep wanting them to stay younger too...
