I had wrote in another thread about how everyone is always writing depressing songs...and it is true....where is a happy song. Tonight me and my mom were singing the Happy Days theme song while doing the dishes...we were singing...Sunday, Monday...Happy Days...tuesday, wendesday...happy days.... then I was singing Laverne and Shirley...Make Our dreams come true...and we'll do it our way...

and then I was singing...come and knock on our door...we've been waiting for you...where the kisses are hers, and hers and his...Three's Company too....

and I thought about all the cool theme songs...from The Greatest American Hero, to The Facts of Life song....and even the song from Family ties was so cool...and they were uplifting...and that's what I am talking about...about how when I would be skipping home from school...clear back in the 70's....I'd be singing the theme to the Kroft Super Show, or I'd be singing Sigmund and the Seamonsters theme song...or I'd be singing Nanny and the Professor...and I loved that stuff...I loved Donny and Marie...and I loved Sonny and Cher...

what show on TV right now has a catchy song that kids want to sing along with....as if kids actually skip home from school anymore?????

I bet ya most kids now know the theme song to COPs...and sing Bad Boys ...Bad Boys whatcha gonna do...whatcha gonna do when they come for you.....

I hate that friggin FRIENDS song.

There is a show on the DISNEY channel called THE SUITE LIFE OF ZACH AND CODY. My daughter walks around the house singing the theme song to our og: "We've got the sweeeeet life! We've got the sweeeeet life!"

I hate the Friends theme song too...I never liked the show.

Do TV shows even have theme songs anymore??

That new show called Sons and Daughters...that looks beyond stupid.

There is no hope for tv.

I use to sing the Land of the Lost theme song too...they had a beginning and an end song....you don't even get a beginning song any more.

Monk still has a decent song that can be described as--well, I wouldn't exactly say upbeat, but it's not completely distressing, more like resigned. While a good deal of fans still prefer the instumental tune used during the first season, it's hard not to get addicted to something like:

It's a jungle out there,
disorder and confusion everywhere.
No one seems to care, well I do.
HEY! Who's in charge here....

I could be wrong now,
But I don't think so!
'Cause it's a jungle out there,
it's a jungle out there.

I noticed that most sitcoms nowadays don't even have theme songs! Maybe some instrumental part, and then they go straight to the show, and no singing.

Exactly Steven....that's what I mean...where's the fun in that. I loved the theme music to everything too, even CHiPs , Starsky and Hutch and MacGyver have cool music.

BJ and the Bear had a great theme song, that Greg Evigan sang.

Even Growing Pains had a really nice theme song.

What the heck is wrong with the world?? It drives me crazy constantly...that all the cool stuff that made TV so great, is all a thing of the past, and they didn't improve on anything, they made it horrible. It is just totally over run with reality tv. It has taken over the world.

A terrible theme song is the one for 2 1/2 MEN....but a little point of interest: One of the voices "singing" it is E G Daley!

Just for you Crystal...for your birthday... [Big Grin] [Wink] [Big Grin]

Show me that smile again (Ooh show me that smile)
Don't waste another minute on your cryin'
We're nowhere near the end (We're nowhere near...)
The best is ready to begin

Ooh...
As long as we got each other
We got the world spinnin' right in our hands
Baby you and me...
We got to be...
The luckiest dreamers who never quit dreamin'

As long as we keep on givin'
We can take anything that comes our way
Baby rain or shine...
All the time...
We got each other
Sharin' the laughter and love

Now when do you ever hear a song like that any more???

That is what is so sad to me, I can't believe nobody else finds it completely depressing that they don't make tv shows with music and nice families, that are funny...it is a bummer.

We have a message board for that, you know. [Wink] [Razz]

Seriously, though, I think the best *80s* TV theme was easily "Miami Vice". You listen to that and you're right there in Miami, speeding down the street and ready to nail some coke-dealing scumbag to the walls.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Miami Vice had one of the best TV show theme songs of the 80s in my opinion. Oh and to give John something else to do, I also liked the theme song from The Pink Panther....

-So, mamamia, what are some of your favorite 80s theme songs?

-Okay, Motley, do you enjoy any of Henry Mancini's 80s instrumentals?...Well, check the IMDB, see if he did any 80s TV themes and then see if there are any that you like.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Since the topic of the thread is TV Theme Songs and doesn't specify by what decade I feel I can safely add the theme song to Chico and the Man.

80s theme songs, huh?????

I cant think of any off the top of my head. I know my friend and I ue=sed to chase eachother around singing the sappier ones. I used to always go up to him and say "Show me that smile again....." (GROWING PAINS) or "What would we dooooo, baby, without us???? SHa la la la!!!!" (FAMILY TIES. This is always fun to do on a crowded subway or online at a supermarket.

But since it is in the 80s Rewind forum and probably should've been classified properly ( [Big Grin] [Wink] [Razz] ), what are some of your favorite *80s* TV theme songs?

Sincerely,
