Hi all,

Many years ago I had a copy of Tiffany's "Hold an Old Friend's Hand" LP on cassette for my car and wondered why a teen-beat singer would try to sing like a truck-stop pall-mall pounding sea captain.

Well inspiration struck tonight... and I am here to share the guess... She was trying to emulate... or emulAPE! Stevie Nicks.

Hold an Old Friend's Hand Video

What producer in their right mind would encourage that? Perhaps the Backstreet Boys would have faired better if they had "emulAPED" Neil Young?

Who is the audience?

So, I'm curious what other strange, intentional or
not, copying you've stumbled across in the wonderland of the 80's and early 90's.

Please drop that bomb!

I listened to that video and you're right, Tiffany does have a resemblance to Stevie. I never noticed it before.

I can't think of any others than the few Depeche Mode soundalikes such as:

Camouflage
Red Flag
Cause & Effect

^^^ all good bands though, so I'm not complaining.

I accidentally came across an interesting resemblance between two songs from the late 60's.
It's not really the voices of the lead singers, but it's the songs themselves that bear some similarities.

Status Quo - Pictures Of Matchstick Men : www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D4YYI8G5EM

World Of Oz - The Muffin Man : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqyd7TWLS0I

Interesting, right ?

I've heard that the Outfield singer tried to sound like Steve Perry. I wouldn't have guessed it. But what about Queensrych (I think that's the band) sounding like Pink Floyd? I was sure I was listening to Pink Floyd when I heard one of their songs a while back.
