Devolution here,

I tend to go with True Blue. Even though my favorite Madonna song isn't on there (Causin' a Commotion). But from beginning to end all of the songs are very good.

Any opposing thoughts?

Her first 2 for me. Debut album probably wins. I like some tracks on True Blue, not all. After that, I'll pass.

Like a Prayer is hands down her best album. All killer no filler. Her most personal and diverse. I really like songs off the first three albums and the singles, but as a cohesive album it's Like a Prayer.

When feeling nostalgic, I prefer the Like a Virgin album.

When it comes to the better songs I agree on True blue. She sounded more mature on that one, but – even though this has nothing to do with the quality of her songs – god… how I hated her looks back then.

anything before like a prayer.. i hated all the songs from like a prayer, especially that song, though it was her most successful in those days, right?

but the albums - madonna, like a virgin, true blue, you can dance & who's that girl soundtrack are all great.

her best songs:

burnin up
holiday
physical attraction
dress you up
angel
love don't live here anymore
crazy for you
into the groove (my favorite song by her)
spotlight

I cant believe we didnt all agree on this one: Her First Album! I can still listen to that all the way through to this day. Her other albums might have on or two tracks I like but that one was Pure Gold!

I'm in agreement, Madonna's first is still her best. I did enjoy her work on the movie "Vision Quest" as well...."Crazy For You" and "Gambler".

Devolution here,

Yeah, but the rest of the first album is very subpar. If you look aong for song, they don't hold up. I still say True Blue, and I own the first album.

I say Like A Prayer, but it's really personal for me....especially Promise To Try.

True Blue is good, though. And I really love Over And Over from LAV....but it's deffo not her best album, IMO.

Like a virgin is great and Madonna!!!! I think they are her best. There was some dispute between Madonna and someone she was in a group with before she became 'Madonna'. The song everybody wasn't her idea It was a former band memebers idea. I can't remember the guys name bt he was a black guy.

Stephen Bray---who interestingly enough found more success post-Madonna with a band called The Breakfast Club (who had a GREAT album, if you can find it, I highly recommend). Also in this band were Dan and Ed Gilroy, the former of which dated Madonna while they were all in a band together.
