Okay hearing the tune "Dreaming" on the radio today has rejuvenated my love for Blondie. I was a huge fan in the 80's with songs like Call Me, Rapture, and Atomic. But over time I seem to have fallen out of love with this group...but today reminded me how 80's cool they once were for me.

My two favourite Blondie songs 'Dreaming' and 'Atomic' both came from the same album ('Eat to the Beat'). Yet 'Parallel Lines' remains their best album to date, and a stone-cold classic.

Never really listened Blondie.
But of course i know the Debbie Harry/Giorgio Moroder song "Call Me"
which is the first track on the American Gigolo soundtrack.
It´s a cool tune.

When I was a kid BLONDIE was the ****! I wore that PARELLEL LINES album OUT! I remember lsitening to it when I got ready for school in the mornings.

I also downloaded a bunch of their stuff recently. Its actually interesting to download some of Debbies solo stuff too (when she released it I was into metal by that time so never paid it much mind to it, but I like it now).

Thinking about it now the 80s was such a great time for women in Rock. The first two albums I ever got were BLONDIE PARELLEL LINES and (not rock but) OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN PHYSICAL. And the first album I ever bought with my own money was THE GO GOS BEAUTY AND THE BEAT. Soon after that I got into JOAN JETT, PAT BENATAR and THE B52s (two women there). And the funny thing is I still lisetn to all of them on a regular basis

I remember I bought all the Blondie reissues with the extra tracks when they came out. Parellel Lines is still a great album, after that I like the Debut album and Eat to the Beat ones the best. A great singles band, they really have a nice greatest hits package out there. Still have yet to see them as they were supposed to play here a few years ago but got cancelled.

Devolution here,

Blondie is one of the first CD's that I bought when I got my CD player in 89. Her Greatest hits were that important.

Back in college I got to see Blondie in concert. They played a tune called "Rip Her To Shreds" that was edgy and turned out to be the highlight of the night for me.

It is an excellent tune, but hearing it live made it even more wicked cool.

I'm admittedly too mainstream sometimes, so "Heart Of Glass" is still my fav...I have vivid memories of listening to this as a kid, and still love the tune today. Haven't really heard any full albums...just the greatest hits...but might just go ahead and check em out now.

Hey Ronnie! I'm stoked that you found your way back to The Rewind.

"Rip Her to Shreds" might be the most underrated Blondie tune.

I used to be a huge Blondie fan. My dad had her tapes and we used to listen to her all the time. We stopped listening after awhile though. But if a Blondie song comes on the radio of course I turn it up, especially One Way or Another.

Don't let the band hear you say that. They hate it when people refer to Debbie Harry as 'Blondie'!

I imagine the members of 'Sade' feel the same way!

It's odd that this issue never crops up with 'Van Halen' or 'Bon Jovi'.

In defense..Blondie actually was named after Deborah Harry, so I can understand how people get confused. Kind of like the group Jethro Tull.

No, you're a stalwart. A brick. It's so often me saying those kind of things! My friend is a massive Blondie fan, she's met them many times. She would've lost it if they'd referred to 'Blondie' as an individual!

I don't know... Halen and Jovi get away with it. When you see a pic of Sade she's usually by herself, so that's understandable. But with Blondie, if she's by herself they refer to her as 'Debbie Harry'.

"Oh Debbie... hi."

Hahaha! The rumors are true Valley...you definitely have a handle on my whereabouts [Wink] !

I was at the Blondie concert in Jim Thorpe, PA last night!! Here's the proof!!
 -

Does she not still look fantabulous?!? That's what 65 years old looks like, Deborah Harry style!! Wow!! Such a fun show!!

Debbie's voice was as strong and distinctive as ever! She floated and growled and teased the crowd through each and every hit. She taunted the audience with instigating stare that would then melt away into the most humble of smiles. All I could think of is she's so New York. She certainly has her own, unique stage presence that is every bit punk & pop rolled into one! What I would have given to see her in the 70's...it must have been unreal!

Original members Chris Stein, on guitars, and Gary Valentine Lachman, on bass, were there too! For 90 minutes, we danced & sang & were caught up in the "Rapture" of it all.

At one moment, it hit me that the woman who's voice I listened to & face I looked at on the cover of 45 records when I was 6 and 7 years old, with messy blonde hair & glossy, red, perfectly pouty & shimmery lips, was standing 20 ft. away from me!! It was crazy! She is an ICON!!

If you get the chance to see her on this tour, do it! You won't be disappointed. [Big Grin]

Mom was into disco, so heard Heart of Glass early on-they got a lot of flack for that song from fellow punk bands for going commercial. It was meant to be more of a reggae/blues song.

Couldn't afford lp's back then, but had The Tide is High on 45. Won tickets to their concert/No Exit, they were great. Liked Deborah Harry in the movie Heavy-though she dyed her blond hair brown.

Great band-so many awesome songs. Love them to shreds!

i catch myself watching blondie videos just to watch debbie. i love her look. videos like hangin on a telephone, rapture (even though the video used to scare me when i was little) and heart of glass... she's so gorgeous to me.
 -

not too long ago, i saw the movie Jennifer's Body with megan fox and at the end, they play a cover of In The Flesh, with a male singer and it was pretty good! i was surprised to hear it. i immediately noticed the 'darlin, darlin-darlin' part and thought wow, this is cool that they chose this song for the end of a horror movie.. It's her lips-such an unusual shape. Even though I've never seen it (Cronenberg creeps me out)-Deborah Harry's lips on the screen for Videodrome was always an iconic image.
