Devolution here,

Can't Slow Down - Lionel Richie

10,900,000 albums sold

Released - October 83

Number one hit : Hello

Track listing:
1)Can't Slow Down
2)All night long
3)Penny Lover
4)Stuck on You
5)Love Will Find a Way
6)The Only One
7)Running With the Night
8)Hello

Another album that I must admit I own. Probably the reason that close to 11 million of them were sold were because fools like my Parents thought that Hello was THE love song of the mid 80's. All night long was a good dance sort of song, and Running with the night was good car music, but we all must remember it's Lionel, no Commodores, and there for it lacks the coolness it would ever have.

It did win the Grammy for Album of the year, and with 5 songs released it makes it instant "Must buy" material at that point in time. If you have the album though and see him hanging on that pole in the center, it makes you want to vomit.

To sum up:
Album : 8 (Mostly due to # of quality songs released, even though they suck the cool out of you)
Need to buy: In 1984, you had to, now though, No one is going "Man, I need to get Can't Slow Down on CD". So I'll say it's worth it on sale.

Back when we had a 'artists defining album' thread, this was the one I went for - so many memorable songs, and just looking down the track listing leaves me recalling the melody (or a line or two) from just about every track.

Classic.
