It's interesting to see which songs were hits in only parts of the world, but ignored everywhere else.

As far as I know, Australia was the only place that Cyndi Laupers "Hole in my heart" was a hit, the same with Julian Lennon's "Now you're in heaven".

Then there are songs that were hits everywhere but here, such as The Bangles "In my room" and Nenah Cherry's "Manchild".

For you guys in the UK and Canadia, do you have anything similar?

I remember Hole in My Heart, probablly wasn't a hit but it was played over here.

This is a very good topic. I am very ignorant in music. I know I have heard of bands from England that were very popular over there and couldn't even break the charts here, sorry don't ask me any names of them though.

I loved Nenah Cherry's Buffalo Stance song, popular back in 1989. I don't know if I have ever heard of "Manchild"??

What about "BOP Girl"? I can't remember who it was by but I know that it was a hit at the same time as Paul Simon's "Call Me Al" (In Australia).

Nicole Kidman was in the film clip to Bop Girl.

Pat Wilson did "Bop Girl". I heard it on some alternative music (or "modern rock") stations during the 80's at the time. But it was never a really huge hit in the U.S.

You are correct that Nicole Kidman (an unknown at the time) was in that one!
