Does anyone like comedy songs? I do!

Some of my favorites are from Morris Minor and the Majors, including "Stutter Rap" and "Here is the chorus"

"Well no-one ever sees what I mean
From the age of n-n-n-n-n-n-thirteen
We've all been caught in a m-m-mouth trap
So join with us in the st-st-st-st-st-st-st-stutter rap"

"This is the chorus, the fabulous chorus
It goes round and around and gets into your brain
It's the chorus, the fabulous chorus
And thirty seconds from now, you're gonna hear it again

This is the keychange, this is the keychange
It's a standard device to stop us sounding mundane
It's the keychange, the fabulous keychange
We've done it the once, so we won't do it again
And if you're lucky lucky lucky, you won't hear us again"

Classic!

AAAAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

I HATE comedy songs! [Mad] [Mad] [Mad]

I've NEVER heard a single one that hasn't made me want to tear off my own ears and run for the hills!

In fact, I'm still reeling from the shock of Ultravox's sublime "Vienna" being kept off the top of the singles chart by Joe Dolce's "Shaddupa Your Face" .......and that was 25 years ago!

I USED to like Weird Als? versions of Beat It and Bad, of course the videos that went with them really made the comic scene complete.

CT, The Son Of Scarface:

Hey, CT! I DO remember that one, if I'm correct on the guess. Is that the one with a guy who sounds like John Wayne.

Not only that, but I also remember watching parts of a music video for that song!

The "singer" or "rapper" wasn't seen, but only shown in close-up shots of cowboy boots! [Cool]

My dad used to sing "They're coming to take me away, away..." to us when we were kids...that's an old one for sure.

I sure do remember "The Streak" and all of Ray Stevens' other kooky stuff.

Weird Al was refreshingly funny in the early days...remember when he'd do 'Al TV' on MTV? I think he did a great job respectfully poking fun at the video craze.

"Rappin Rodney" was great: No respect, no respect! RIP Al Czernik.

Sorry for bringing this thread back up, but the artist who performed "They're Coming To Take Me Away (Ha-Ha)" was named Napoleon the Eighth (It was actually in Roman numerals, but I'm not good with those).

Anyway, I have this book on the 70s L.A punk rock scene entitled "We've Got The Neutron Bomb" (or possibly "We Got..."). Anyway, it turns out that Napoleon, the artist who performed the song, is actually California music scenester Kim Fowley, a scummy man with a mouth so foul he makes Andrew "Dice" Clay sound like the Pope.

Just figured I would pass that along.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

One and the same, mamamia.

I read that book and Christ, was that guy nasty. He seemed like such a jerk to hang around that it's amazing that he launched all those acts.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

I enjoy I Wanna Eff Your Sister, and Dennis Leary's Traditional Irish Drinking Song:

They come over here
and they take all our land.
They chop off our heads
and they boil them in oil.
Our children are leaving
and we have no heads.
We drink and we sing
and we drink and we die.

We have no heads.
No, we have no heads!

They come over here
and they chop off our legs.
They cut off our hands
and put nails in our eyes.
O'Grady is dead
and O'Hanrahan's gone.
We drink and we die
and continue to drink.

O'Hanrahan...No, O'Hanrahan!

Strange...I didn't know that Denis Leary's drinking song was an 80s comedy song. You could've fooled me;).

Whoa, Brode, cool your jets. You must not have noticed the smiley. I was only joking around. It's a running joke on these forums about how I feel everything should be in its' proper place. Therefore, I made a joke about your mention of that Denis Leary song because it was released on a 90s album and to my mind didn't fit in with a post on an 80s music forum. I didn't want to be a (bleep)-on about it so I made a joke.

Once again, this is proof of how I can't tell a joke to save my life.

Don't take it seriously...I beg you.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff
