I found a used car from the States that looks really well maintained, but I’m worried it might have been used as a taxi or rental in the past. The dealer didn’t say anything, but the price seems a bit too good. Is there a way to check previous usage type through the VIN? Would a regular VIN report show if the car was a fleet vehicle or had commercial use?

Yep, a good VIN report can show that kind of stuff. I had a similar case last year — a Toyota with low mileage, great condition, but suspiciously cheap. I used https://cheapvinreport.com/ to check the VIN and found out it was used as a rental car in three different states. That explained the price. Their report broke it all down: number of owners, registration history, service logs, and even the usage type (personal, taxi, rental etc.). For just 12 zł it gave me everything I needed to make a decision. What I liked was that they also show odometer history — so you can spot if the mileage was rolled back. Cheap VIN Report isn’t flashy but it’s really solid and straightforward. Definitely saved me from getting a car that was driven hard for years.

Wow, that’s super useful. I didn’t know usage type could even be tracked like that. I’ll run the VIN through Cheap VIN Report right away. Sounds like exactly what I need to clear up those doubts. Thanks a lot for the heads-up!
