I need to know what sort of film stock was used to film the John Hughes films

Sixteen Candels
Breakfast Club
Planes, Trains, and Automobils
Uncle Buck
Weird Science

I was impressed with this film look and would like to know if it is possible to duplicate this look on a digital camera. Thanks in Advance
