hey all I read on the boards about people here that love certain movies here is my question.
I was wondering is it legal to make a DVD of a VHS tape and give it away if that movie is out of print or not on DVD? I have seen people on ioffer and ebay selling old movies like that and was just curious.

It's legal if copyright has lapsed. It's legal if it is currently unavailable on modern media (DVD) and you are not profiting from doing so, and doing it on a one-on-one basis. Everything else is probably illegal.
Having said that - I'm not an expert.
