About a German girl who's parents die and she is sent to live in a bad foster home. She meets and gets involved with guy in the mob I think, and is bullied by this other girl in school. There is something to do with a ballerina statue, she may have been a ballerina.

Def. not Six feet under. The main character is German and she lives in America, the male lead is Italian type. Her father is in the military and I think they were in Germany when her parents die in a plane crash, then she is sent to the States and her foster parents are just in it for the kickbacks and are really unkind to her. I think her foster mother breaks the ballerina statue which was a gift from her mother. I don't remember if she was a dancer or not.
