I just wondered if any of you do this...

I don't know what it is about 80's movies being released to DVD that gets me but I find myself buying movies I don't even really like that much when they come out on DVD because it feels like I should or I better get it now because eventhough I don't love the movie, it might go away and I won't be able to get it ever again...For example, Howard the Duck is seeing a DVD release in March I believe and part of me is actually considering buying it because I love Lea Thompson!!

Have you ever done this? If so with what movies???

All the time, I learned my lesson the hard way passing up the DVD's of School Spirit and She's out of control. I remember them vaguely on TV, but never watched them front to back, don't know if I ever will.

Howard the Duck was torture to watch...don't do it.

Find another movie with Lea Thompson in it.

I hardly ever buy movies in a store somewhere.

I usually hear about a movie (on here), and then I go track it down on Ebay or Amazon.

I love when people write about things I have never heard of.

I keep thinking I need to just go buy all these movies that people have recommended on here, like Cloak and Dagger and Monster Squad...and just have them...incase I can't find them in a year.

Look at how many movies that have been released to DVD- you can only get off the internet, because they only released a limited amount.

I had actually ordered SOUL MAN on dvd, but caught it on tv yesterday, and instantly cancelled my order... damn, that was a retarded movie! It shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as other 80's classics!

I kind of like Soul Man.

Is saying something is "retarded" is that an 80s phrase...because I say that all the time, and anymore people look at you funny when you say the word "retard". But, we called each other "retards" all the time, and I just wondered if other people still do that?

ISIS, you totally have to get those movies. I think they are worth the investment, and if you shop around, you should be able to get them fairly cheap. I know that Circuit City has Cloak & Dagger online for $6.99, which isn't much more expensive than a rental.

I just watched Cloak & Dagger again the other night, and it's still a really good movie. Of course, a bit of magic is lost from the movie since watching it as a child, but it certainly holds its own. So does Monster Squad, which I watched a few months back, and enjoyed.

It is interesting, however, re-watching childhood favorites as an adult...I almost always find that a little something is lost on those kid-friendly 80's classics, with the exception of The Goonies, Stand By Me, Big, and E.T. Nonetheless both Monster Squad and Cloak & Dagger have stood the test of time, IMO.

I've fought the urge to buy Monster Squad even though I see it for sale on DVD everywhere now. I loved the movie as a kid, but I just know that I'd probably hate it now. I did make this mistake a couple other times. Once when I bought the DVD release of Garbage Pail Kids...and did I ever kick myself in the behind for doing so. One of the biggest wastes of $13.99 I've done in recent time.

I buy crappy 80's movies all the time...but usually for only $5. If I remember hearing about them or seeing them when i was a kid...i want it. I've bought some bombs that I couldn't get through til the end....So....they suck...I'll never never watch them again.....they are cluttering up my house....but still gotta have it.......in need of counselling perhaps?

I've passed on Garbage Pail Kids for only $2.99....should I do it? Seems like I'm supposed to have it...but I'm not hopeful of it being any good.

I buy some of these impulse DVD's as well. Stuff I didn't want to see in the 80's I take a chance on like Remo Williams or Action Jackson. I even bought Frankenhooker last month, one of those one time viewing sorts of things.
