The descriptions aren't that great because I only remember bits and pieces of the movies but here goes haha..
the first one is some movie where this guy walks into a certain room of his house and it changes into a different place.. and there is some old old guy in the house with some like alien looking thing as a pet.. that's all I got on this one haha
the second one is about some guy that marries this girl and she turns out to have powers or something.. anyway I just remember one scene where the outside of the house starts to have like trees and vines grow in all around it.

valleygirl- No it's more of a comedy and I want to say it has that old guy that plays in "Oh God" but I looked up his movie list and couldn't find it on there either.. haha

The 2nd one sounds like House 2 to me, although I have not seen it in about 100 years!!! I think it might be what you are looking for?
