I love sci-fi movies...Though, I don't know many of them...Any recommendation on what is good to watch...doesn't have to be 80's?

Some of my favourite sci-fi films, 80s & non-80s:

The Fifth Element (1997) - simply wonderful
Starship Troopers (1997) - just because the violence etc. is so over the top
Dark Star (1973) - one of the earliest space comodies ever made, full of black humour and apparently there's plans for an SE DVD
The Last Starfighter (1984) - classic 80s sci-fi, teenager gets recruited to be a space pilot
Flight of the Navigator (1986) - kid gets to pilot a spaceship
Explorers (1985) - 3 kids get to pilot their own spaceship
Galaxy Quest (1999) - takes the mickey out of Star Trek big time and does it extremely well
Blade Runner (1982) - a true original, many have copied it's style since (when are they gonna do the SE DVD? )
Lifeforce (1985) - 80s British sci-fi with a big budget (and Patrick Stewart )
Howard the Duck (1986) - a duck from another planet ends up on earth
Dark City (1998) - a man wakes up in a strange dark city with no memory and people chasing him, a masterpiece of sci-fi

"Fifth Element" and I did like it.

Yeah, I get into fights with everyone about The Fifth Element, I think I just had the movie built up to be amazing.

I will try to figure some more out.

Some of my fave sci-fi films are:

The Fly, E.T @ Back to the future trilogy (im syrprise none of you guys said that) awesome films.
