80's movie centred around two women who meet up, travel across the US, go their own ways at one point, only to end up back together and build a house in what I think was alaska, but I'm not sure. Thought that Ally Sheedy played the younger woman. Please help. Thanks.

The film is called 'leaving normal', it was made in 1992, and stars Meg Tilly and Christine Lahti.
