Looks good! So is this a new genre faux 80's? Maybe they can re-make rad!

Remarkable.. Turbo Kid gets a Dutch dvd and blu-ray release next month.
Still no sign of The Final Girls, Starry Eyes, and many, many other interesting movies...

Turbo Kid is available here on dvd and blu-ray, but i didn't buy it. I think i prefer to get the Lionsgate disc from the UK as soon as the price drops (which is usually 3 months after release).

Yeah, the first poster is from the 6 minute short film which was released in 2011 and finally last year they made the Turbo Kid movie.
Which i by the way watched last night.
Acid rains have dried the land and poisoned the water. Endless wars have ruined the cities. This is the future, this is 1997.
Well, i liked Turbo Kid very much. It´s a low budget film but it has all the right elements. Take any 80s kids action adventure, add the post-apocalyptic element plus Ash vs Evil Dead style extreme violence with blood and guts and you have Turbo Kid.
The story is pretty simple but there´s few surprises. Munro Chambers is sympathetic as The Kid, Laurence Laboeuf is highly energetic as Apple and you can see that Michael Ironside is having fun playing the vicious Zeus. We can see BMX bikes, Rubik´s Cube, View-Master, Walkman... all that great 80s stuff. The synth heavy soundtrack oozes 80s feel and none other than Stan Bush (Transformers ´86) sings the opening credits tune "Thunder in your Heart". If there´s one place i can recommend this film, it´s here but keep in mind that it includes extreme violence.
Turbo Kid and Apple

Oh, i forgot to say that the film comes with a warning sticker which says:
"All you Johnny Roarke´s out there, your dvd- and blu-ray players wont play this film. It´s for your own good so don´t even try to question it, Thank you for your understanding"

Turbo Kid was awesome fun, very inventive plus so ridiculously over the top gory i felt that you could not help but laugh at it!
I thought Michael Ironside was terrific here as the evil overlord Zeus and it sort of reminded me a bit of his role in Space Hunter Adventures In The Forbidden Zone though minus those big metal hands!
The electric synth music score was seriously cool as well and added greatly to the mood of the pic, infact I think they've done some really great electric synth movie soundtrack's of late - Drive,Cold In July and The Guest are three that I can think of straight off the top off my head.
Like atomik mentioned above some people might be turned off by the extreme violence on display here though I too think, well I sense it ayway that most people on these boards probably would actually really dig this one!
I saw this on a rental and enjoyed it that much that i can now see myself at some point in the near future definitely picking this one up!
Great fun and comes highly recommended!

It was a good call to compare Ironside´s role here to Overdog in Space Hunter Adventures In The Forbidden Zone.
The synth score revival is so cool. I´ve already seen Drive and need to check out Cold in July and The Guest asap.
