Listen to Ric Ocasek's albums from '82, '86 and '91. Past that they're not as good. I liked the album Fireball Zone the best.

Never really got into his solo stuff as much as The Cars music. But he's had a few solo songs that I thought were pretty good. Like this one off his "This Side Of Paradise" album that I've had in regular rotation in my music library for years now.
