Red Surf (1990)

"Remar and Attila are a couple of surfpunks who also deal drugs to make a living.
They are trying to set up a final deal with local drug lord, Calavera, when their friend True Blue is busted by the cops.
Blue talks too much in the police station and Calavera is out for revenge because of the betrayal." (IMDb)

This was a decent actiondrama directed by H. Gordon Boos.
He has been second unit director or assistant director in Valley Girl, Night of the Comet, House
and Platoon among others so he´s seen a lot.

The cast is interesting.
Red Surf stars George Clooney, Doug Savant, Dedee Pfeiffer, Philip McKeon, Rick Najera and Gene Simmons.
Doug "Melrose Place" Savant did a pretty good job but sadly Gene Simmons´ role wasn´t that big.

I have to say that the story could´ve been much better and Rebecca, played by Dedee,
was probably the only likeable character in the film.

Drugs, drinking, surfing, fighting and riding wetbikes are the things these guys like the best.

Nice little "direct-to-video" flick, and the soundtrack is very good, especially the three The Del-Lords songs, i just adore the "Judas Kiss" song which was played in the middle and at the end during the credits.

Thanks for the bump. Never heard of "Red Surf" before this thread, but it looks interesting. I strongly suspect it has more of a late '80's feel/vibe than a '90's one, since it was probably filmed in '89.

Never seen this one either but it sounds like fun and has an interesting cast!

Actually just added it to my online rental list so hopefully soon to check it out!

Just got done watching Red Surf (DVD rental) and I agree it's not a bad little action flick with a fun cast, enjoyed the finale with the jet ski/power boat shoot out and the showdown at the drug barons house where he keeps a pack of hungry wolves in the basement.

Gene Simmons was cool and his character proved himself pretty useful in the combat scenes and Dedee Pfeiffer like her older sister Michelle is a talented and very pretty actress!

UK Dvd was a budget release with full screen picture and no extras that I spotted but the picture and sound quality in general was pretty decent!

Not bad at all! 6.5/10
