Dr. Alien is highly entertaining plus you get to see Julie Gray, the "Shot in the Dark" girl topless (among others):

And what do you know, just noticed that she´s also in School Spirit. So it´s back to school tonight!

Last night i watched Shadowzone too. Pretty decent flick from J.S. Cardone which plays out a lot like
Galaxy Of Terror (1981) meets From Beyond (1986). And i couldn't help noticing it has more than a few
things in common with the later Event Horizon (1997) too.
Louise Fletcher and James Hong provide some star power, and like Young Warrior said, the effects are
graphic and gory.

I still own Cardone's The Slayer (1982) on video, so maybe it's time to hook up the VCR and revisit that one !

Cool that you liked Shadowzone Johnny,The Slayer is great and in much need of a Blu Ray release, the old vipco Dvd release I watched of it sometime back was a bit of an embarrassment!

Really enjoyed Dr.Alien, thought it was seriously daft but also much funnier than what I had expected, Just One of The The Guys Billy Jayne aka Billy Jacoby was terrific in the lead role and there's quite a smattering of female nudity on display!

A lot of fun though obviously it won't appeal to everyone and I think from the cover alone (above) you can get a pretty good idea of what type of movie you are letting yourself in for!

Watched The Runestone (1991).

This movie was a disappointment. It´s unatmospheric and you didn´t care about the characters at all.

The premise is interesting, norse evil unleashed and ragnarök (the end of the world) coming.
They just don´t know what to do with the story and the monster (the wolf Fenrir) looks pretty bad. Avoid.

Watched Prom Night III: The Last Kiss (1990).

The series took a left turn here because this is more a spoof than anything else.
It was a disappointing film because the cast, the characters and the story all lacked that something.
The old school special effects (lasers and electricity) pleased me though and Courtney Taylor was smoking hot as Mary Lou Maloney.
I would´ve followed her to hell in an instant to be her sex slave for all eternity [Big Grin]

Prom Night 3 is the only one from the series I've yet to see, watching the trailer for it sometime back it did feel that they gone for a more comedic tone though did you know Atomik that part 3 is actually cut in most territories with I think the Australian DVD being one of the only uncut prints of the film in circulation!

It's got edits for violence, language and nudity -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098136/alternateversions

Don't know if uncut it would make for a better movie but if the cast, characters and story are slightly lacking I wouldn't have thought so!

Yeah, i read it from Wiki and both my vhs tape and the finnish dvd were indeed edited versions.
Then i found the uncut version from YouTube and quickly checked what i had missed but it´s really nothing that special.

Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil (1992)

"Carrying on the Prom Night tradition, this film begins back at Hamilton High School on Prom Night in 1957.
As a young couple are enjoying a romantic moment together in the back seat of a car, they are interrupted by Father Jonas, a priest who slashes and immolates the lovers.
Thirty years later, Jonas gets loose from the chapel basement where the church fathers had been secretly keeping him locked up and drugged.
As luck would have it, it's prom night again, and group of four students have unfortunately chosen Jonas's hideout as their secluded getaway spot." (IMDb)

It´s back to serious horror with this sequel and i like the premise but the film includes too much aimless wandering and illogical behavior.
Few effective death scenes (the burning crosses) and very hot lead actress Nicole de Boer can´t save this one.

"A horrible massacre strikes up after an outcast teenage girl is taunted by a group of high school jocks,
all of them unaware of her cutthroat telekinetic powers." (IMDb)

The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)

A decent Carrie sequel directed by Katt "Poison Ivy" Shea.
Shea is no De Palma when it comes to creating scenes and building the atmosphere.
It also doesn´t help that the school scenery lacks that certain 70s charm and 90s music mostly sucks.

Emily Bergl is pretty solid and Amy Irving was the only actor to reprise her role from Carrie.
I liked the last act but it was too little too late.

Caught the last half of this last night before bed. A really under appreciated Wes Craven comedy/horror if you ask me.

Tales From The Crypt presents Demon Knight (1995)

Amusing cat-and-mouse / demons-versus-humans tale set in a remote hotel during one night
benefits from a good cast, stylish direction, and some imaginitive splattery gore effects.

William Sadler, Billy Zane, Jada Pinkett Smith, Thomas Haden Church, D!ck Miller, and CCH Pounder
in full-on Rambo mode (even after losing an arm) star !

The Scream Factory blu-ray comes loaded with extra's, including two seperate commentaries, a Q&A
with Miller, and an excellent 40min. featurette that brings back principal cast members Sadler, Zane,
and Miller, as well as the director, writers, and producers.

I bought this along with Scream Factory's Bordello Of Blood blu, which may not exactly be in the same league as Demon Knight,
but also comes with another must-see featurette in which Corey Feldman comments on several of his co-stars' lack of enthusiasm
(to say it politely) to be working on a movie called Bordello Of Blood. It's really quite hilarious !

Body Melt (1993)

"Residents of peaceful Pebbles Court, Homesville, are being used unknowingly as test experiments for a new 'Body Drug' that causes rapid body decomposition (melting skin etc.) and painful death." (IMDb)

After watching Street Trash i wanted to see more body horror so it was time to check out this wicked and wild low-budget australian feature.

Think the Peter Jackson early works and you get close what Body Melt is.
Some nudity, painful death scenes and crazy but fun characters. It was cool to see great Vincent Gil (Nightrider from Mad Max) as dangerous hillbilly dad.

The only thing i didn´t like was the very dated techno/trance score.
