this is not a 90's topic but bare with me - I've NEVER been a fan of the James Bond films and with the news that Daniel Craig is set to star in the new CASINO ROYALE, I got to wondering how infinitely cooler Matt Damon's Jason Bourne from THE BOURNE IDENTITY and THE BOURNE SUPREMACY was compared to Bond. there are the obvious parallels with both characters but Bourne wins hands down - no witty one-liners, no ridiculously camp villains, no over-the-top gadgets; the guy uses his training to a believable level. what do you think?

Bond definitely. Why in the world did they pick Daniel Craig when they had alot better talent to pick from?

Both excellent characters, Bourne is to Bond what 'Jailhouse Rock' Elvis is to Frank Sinnatra: James is a knowing pastiche / glamorisation of the genial playboy spy, which is why any attempt to parody Bond usually resembles ‘Hudson Hawk’. Jason Bourne is by far the no-nonsense, down-to-the-wire hardman who’s “on his own side” whilst 007’s first loyalty is always to the mission and…ahem, other needs: “one rises to meet a challenge”.

And even though James has a license to kill whislt Bourne IS the weapon, I’d still have to say Bond, but give Jason Bourne some time, after all he’s only been in two movies (three if you count the Richard Chamberlain version) compared to the veteran Bond whose been at it for over 20 years.

Bond. Hands down. I'm still mad at Daniel Craig getting the role. Pierce still had it, they could have made 2 or 3 more with him.

Bond by a landslide. Not even close. I was skeptical about Daniel Craig getting the role, but I saw a pic of him as Bond and he fit the character better than I thought he would. He had his hair slicked back and it looked darker.

Pic of the new Bond

The real question now is who will be the new Bond Girls?

Hopefully, they will save Susan as a Bond villain in a later episode! [Smile]

Bond or Bourne huh?

Only say that there is no comparison because of the fact that Bond has had like 30 more films that Bourne! And several different actors who played him to boot, and gearing up for another one as well!
