I know a lot of people think "Four Flies" is lesser Argento. I don't. I think that it's really creepy, weird, and great. Region 1 finally, finally got an official DVD release last year. For some reason, this was the rarest of all the Argento films. It never even made it to VHS in North America. Man, I waited years for it. In the late 80s, I had a blurry, incorrectly film-chained copy of it made from a 16mm print. It was almost unwatchable. And then about 20 years later, I "upgraded" to a version with French subtitles. Now I have the real thing. It was a long wait, for sure!

I also remember all those 5th-6th generation copies we watched back in the 80s-early 90s. Probably greek/dutch subs, almost b/w... but it was still great!

Hahaha. Yeah, my first copy of "Four Flies" was so washed out, it really should've been in b/w. It is all too easy now, my friend. I was telling a friend of mine that the modern DVD age, where even obscuriata like "The Perfume of the Lady in Black" and "Nude for Satan" get spiffy, official releases, has ruined our pastime of trying to track down lost treasures. I remember the very first "foreign" VHS tape that I got. It was PAL to NTSC transfer of "Tenebre." It looked about third generation, and the video tracking was all messed up, such that the picture rolled every couple of minutes. But that was like seeing "Avatar" in 70mm and 3D compared to a VHS copy of "The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire," a movie not on DVD, that I still have. It must be a 10th generation copy because at the climax, the image is so soft you have a hard time telling the actors apart. LOL

How could i have missed this topic 'till now ?
Some years ago Italian dvd-label No-Shame did a whole bunch of releases in the US, some of which you guys already mentioned. I just took a quick look at all the previous posts here, and maybe i've missed it.. but did anyone already mention No-Shame's excellent Emilio Miraglia Killer Queen box-set ? It has the movies The Night Evelyn Came Out of The Grave and The Red Queen Kills Seven Times packaged in a nice looking box which also contains a statue ( !! ) of the masked killer from The Red Queen.
They also released a Luciano Ercoli Death box-set which contains the movies Death Walks at Midnight and Dearh Walks in High Heels as well as a soundtrack cd.
All movies are typically early 70s gialli and will be right up your alley !

I saw the box set with the little Red Queen action figure, and now I'm kickig myself that I didn't pick it up. It was very cool. Of the films, I have only seen "Evelyn," which didn't register as a very strong giallo. It's weird and OK, but nothing great like "Perfume of the Lady in Black" or "The House with Windows that Laugh."

The Pyjama Girl Case (1977) maybe, or Naked You Die (1968) for some good quality gialli.. or wallow into perverted sleaze territory with Umberto Lenzi's ludicrous Eyeball (1975).

Eyeball may be a bit difficult to find though. I have it on a German import dvd released about a decade ago. I also have Crimes of The Black Cat (1972) on an Italian import dvd, but the quality isn't really something to write home about. It's a good giallo though.
Also : Suspected Death of a Minor.. In The Folds of The Flesh.. My Dear Killer.. Spasmo.. and Seven Bloodstained Orchids.
