Cant believe its been a quarter of a century since i first saw this movie at the cinema. It really quite possibly could be...the MOST iconic movie of the decade.
This months Empire magazine in the UK have celebrated with quite a few pages of interesting photos and a little q and a with the big wigs.

What are your thoughts on the movie, director, actors, popularity of the Trilogy and should there be another?

This is one of my all time favs and holds a special place in my heart...captures just the right time of my childhood and holds a lot of great memories for that reason alone. Love the actors...Michael J Fox ,Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Crispin glover all were great in this movie...and a good supporting cast.

One of my all time favs, and I've owned part 2 and 3 for years but have never watched them. I think they should leave things alone. With all the new special effects and green screen tecnology, I suspect they'd go way into the future and relay on specail effects to carry the movie...which typically seems to take away from the story line.

Yeah i agree, they would go over board big time with sfx.
Yes for me too, i turned 11 in that yr and for me it was such an adventure, i even tried building a delorean out of card board and milk crates. Almost all of this movie was filmed at night and mj fox said it was the hardest movie he has ever done because he hardly got any sleep at all. He even took up smoking.

I love this movie and watched it first time in a theater too.
I was 11 years old.

I still remember that i was blown away by the ending:
that car flew, it actually flew, what´s coming next!!

I like the sequels too but the original is always the original.

yeah Atomik a flying car was something that was just so impossible back then - i was 11 also. I remember being a little scared when the scarecrow was on the windscreen and i was worrying how he was going to get back - at that age i had no idea about electricity and as marty says ...What the hell is a Jigawatt??

I really liked the wild west but i think the first is definately the best one, i mean honestly it had songs like - Power of love by Huey lewis and the news come on !!! I dont think there is a movie more iconic.

BTTF is the quintessential 80's movie.. you seldom come across anyone that has never seen and further more it is hard ot find anyone that doesn't enjoy it. I realize quite a bit of the movie was spent in another decade, but Marty stayed 80's true throughout..

I mentioned this on Earth Angel's incredible BTTF thread.. but one thing that I always thought was brilliant about BTTF was how in the beginning of the movie Marty was like a normal guy stuck in a dysfunctional family and then after he accidently changes the past ... Marty is the one that appears to be the dysfunctional family member... clever stuff.

DeLorean...Flux-Capacitor...Calvin Klein...88 MPH...Enchantment Under the Sea Dance...Pepsi Free...Marvin Berry...1.21 Gigawatts...

I must fight the urge to tell the same BTTF cinema story I tell whenever anyone mentions the film. Instead I'll just say;

'Teen Wolf' is the better movie!*

logan5 .. I would get you a bag of Reese's Pieces to make you feel better, but I heard you missed E.T. as well. What is the candy of choice for "Dark Crystal"?

Oh and I probably wouldn't have anything to talk about if I didn't keep telling the same stories over and over! Plus, there are always new people to the Rewind to amuse.. or bore.. ha

Old stories? I was just about to ask a 'Hugga Bunch' question!

BTTF is a classic, even BTTF2 is great IMO. We're only 5 years away from 2015 and not a flying car or hoverboard in sight...

Something far less satisfying than Reese's Pieces!

Very true! For this reason (if no other) I shall tell my story...

No. BTTF is a far far better film than Teen Wolf (though Teen Wolf is lots of fun). I was alluding to a story I always roll out about my childhood cinema visits, and how whatever 'big' movie I was taken to see (and usually dying to see) had always just finished. In the case of BTTF, the kind lady behind the counter pointed out that there was a new film starring the same guy just starting; I went in expecting Back to the Future and I came out having seen Teen Wolf. I went in expecting E.T. and came out having seen The Dark Crystal.
I'm damaged goods. Having said that, I did compensate by going to see BTTF2 twice at the cinema. Somehow it didn't make up for missing the first one. A few years can make a huge difference in how much impact a movie has on you.

If I may inquire, in what year and on what network did BTTF make its TV debut? I've wondered this for some time now. I would assume NBC, since they aired it back in 2001, but I'm aware they could simply have picked the rights up for the sole airing (on that note, anyone know of any website where they do list the initial airdate and network of the TV premiere of as many films as possible?).

The first BTTF was excellent! A true classic and still hilarious no matter how many times I watch it!

BTTF 2 and 3 should have never been made. Suckage IMO. They should NEVER make a number 4!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BTTF!!!!!
