I wanna start with: I so want Josh's loft to hang out in. And what a dream job..developIng and analyzing new toys. So my thing!

Earlier this year while I was in Vegas, I found 'Zoltar the fortune teller' from "Big"! It was sitting outside a memorabilia store..and even better to attract customers... they had a floor keyboard similar to the movie...

Anyway, "Big" was on HBO this morning and it reminded me of my Vegas discovery, so I just had to share it.

My advice next time you see Zoltar...don't say...

"I wish I were big ... you creepy fortune teller!"

I remember this was the first movie that Hollywood took Tom Hanks as a serious actor. Weird that it was playing a kid trying to exist in a grown up world.

Valley, have you seen Tom Hanks' first movie, the 80's slasher "He Knows You're Alone?" I like that movie a lot, even though it's a total "Halloween" copycat.

Good movie, when he sings 'Memories' on the phone at the office, hilarious.

Valley, tell me you bought the Zoltar machine?

I've seen "He Knows You're Alone", but it was on regular tv, so it was edited to point I'm not sure who died..ha..but from what I remember it was better than expected. Moral of the movie..don't get married??

Okay..original "Halloween" still ranks as my fav scary movie of all-time. Don't Fear the Reaper!

And Kash..if you'd seen the pricetag on the Zoltar the creepy fortune teller you would know the answer!

Love this movie as well. At the time, wouldn't that keyboard be a Christmas item that parents paid a crazy amount of money for...only to have their kids tramp on it...3 or four times... before it gathered dust and was shoved under a bed!

Rewatched Big directed by Penny Marshall (RIP) with my kid and we both enjoyed it.
The floor keyboard scene with Robert Loggia is a classic and we both thought that Zoltar was so scary [Big Grin]

First question that came to mind was, did you play chopsticks on the keyboard?

I haven't seen this in ages. Might have to re-watch it tonight!

The soundtrack is one of my favourites.

Just saw Big, for the first time in it's entirety. Great film. Very funny & also sad at times. I see the message as being that no matter how old you get, it's nice to at least retain some semblance of that child-like sense of wonder that you had when you were a kid.

I agree that the Zoltar fortune telling "machine" was very creepy.

I specifically saw the Extended version on the Blu-ray; it was around 2 hours & 10 minutes long. Not sure what was added here, since I never saw the original theatrical version. In any case, the extended version was great - I always like "director's cuts" like this, since they usually make the movie longer & add more to the story.
