Just watched Weekend Warriors aka Hollywood Air Force (1986)

It was a good military comedy set in 1961 and includes lots of great gags and jokes.

Once again this movie is still not available on dvd and i just can´t understand why.

That funny, I just bought this movie on VHS last night. I haven't received it yet, so I can't weigh in on the quality of the film, but I'm looking forward to watching it. I love '80s institutional comedies.

I finally watched it last night. It was decent, but definitely not in the same league as Police Academy. The guy who talked in the Elmer Fudd voice really got on my nerves.

That Italian poster was also used as the artwork for the UK Medusa home video release of up the military aka basic training(1985).

Awesome posters.

Basic Training (1985), released on VHS here in Holland in the winter of '86/'87 as Militaire Academie,
probably to cash in on the success of the Police Academy series (1-3 at that moment in time).
The artwork used for the Dutch CNR rental-video is the same as above, with the exception of the
neutral grey-ish sky being altered into a clear blue sky.

Basic Training was released on region 1 dvd through MGM in 2003.. Unfortunately i missed out on this
release, and i know it's been out-of-print for quite some time now. Hopefully it'll turn up again some day
(preferably on blu-ray), as i actually have fond childhood memories of watching this. [Smile]

Hollywood Air force aka Weekend Warriors UK VHS/Beta artwork as featured in the VHS Cover Art book I picked up a little while back!

Since re-watching 1986's Recruits for the first time in decades a little while back and having a blast with it there's loads of these 80s T&A comedies I want to revisit such as Basic Training aka Up The Military,Screen Test(85),Stitches (again 85),Hollywood Hot Tubs etc plus track down a few I've never had the chance to see such as 86's Free Ride (below),Aussie comedy Foreplay(84) aka Melvin:Son Of Alvin,Wimps,Vallet Girls,Hollywood Air Force aka Weekend Warriors,Sex Appeal,Private Popsicle,etc.etc.

Picked up this VHS double bill of saucy 80s comedies Up The Military aka Basic Training and Hollywood Air Force aka Weekend Warriors

On the back cover they've made an error as they have mixed up the descriptions and pictures for each movie so you've got a pic for Up The Military above the description and title credits of Hollywood Air Force and then vice versa!
