again, i will give as little info as possible because it's all i have, but i hope it will help someone remember the movie name.

this was either a late 70's/very early 80's horror type movie. i remember it was early 80's because my parents were "borrowing" pay cable at this point and this movie was on hbo. i believe it was more of a psychological horror, scary movie than a blood and guts movie. the main character was this blonde haired kid who i believe was psychotic. my only memories of this movie were the very beginning of the film because my dad made me change the channel because he said it was too scary, probably for him. the opening scene shows something like a coat rack banging against a wall, then it pans over to the room next to it and you see this blonde haired kid banging his head against the wall in unison. the other scene i remember is either his mother or sister, or just someone for that matter, taking a bath and listening to the radio in the bathroom. this kid then walks in and throws the radio into the tub killing the person in it. i think that's when my old man changed the channel because that's all i can remember. i don't know if the movie was any good but i was always curious as to what movie this was.

thanks for your help.

wow, this may be it. i went to the imdb page and it didn't seem familiar, but i saw the trailer for it on youtube and i'm pretty sure that was the guy i was thinking of. the trailer only showed him in the hospital and like i said before my old man had turned the movie off by then but i'm sure this is it. i'll have to see if it's on dvd now. thanks for your help.

Yeah, thanks!

I´m going to buy this new scandinavian edition.
It has some extra material and a soundtrack cd by Goblin.
