Apparently since Hollywood can think of nothing original these days, they are planning on remaking Short Circuit and Karate Kid. Karate Kid is going to star 10 year old Jaden Smith, Will Smith's son, who I'm sure had nothing to do with Jaden getting the part.

All of these remakes are getting out of hand!!

The sad thing is that some hack screenwriter is going to get paid ten times my annual salary just to scribe those crappy remakes. That's the part I don't get. They could pay $500 to any creative writing grad student in the country and get just as good a one-off script. I mean, the Karate Kid 2009? Please. David Mamet couldn't come up with a good script for that. It's just a bad idea.
