ok in this one, i think it is a 70s horror movie, but there is a group of people in a darkish room and they are all sitting in chairs, and it focuses on each character while they tell the story of why they were in hell because of some awful thing they did when they were alive and it's like 5 or so short stories...i thought it was a 1970s tales of the crypt movie but i have that and it's not it... if anyone knows what i'm talking about that'd be awesome. you guys are so helpful!

Sounds like a strange episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? but I suppose that's not it.

I'm not exactly sure, as I haven't seen this movie in quite some time, but could it be The Vault of Horror (1973).

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070868/maindetails

The plot synopsis from IMDB says:

"Five men trapped in the basement vault of an office building share visions with each other of thier demise. Stories revolve around vampires, bodily dismemberment, east indian mysticism, an insurance scam, and an artist who kills by painting his victims' deaths."

It sounds similiar but I could be wrong since there's a lot of these horror anthology films out there.
