Waste of time.
I know many will disagree with me here but I think all of Cronenberg's movies suck.
Oh, Bernie. Cronenberg is a genius and The Dead Zone a true classic.
Now what can we do with you... I´m gonna call to Andrew McCarthy. Maybe he knows Posts: 5108 | From: Finland | Registered: Feb 2008 | Site Updates: 7

The nearest I have come to liking a Cronenberg film was Dead Ringers and even that got boring after a while.
I have seen interviews with Cronenberg and he does come across like a very insightful guy but I just can't get into his movies for some reason.

Not as good as I remembered it being but still worth watching.
I guess now the whole basketball coach with questionable antics taking a high school team to victory has been done to death but at the time it was probably a fairly original idea I guess.

Ok, Andrew told me that Bernie really has tried but Cronenberg´s style just leaves him cold. I think we can live with that, Helen
Thanks for mentioning Hoosiers. I think that i´m finally going to watch it today or tomorrow.

i watched my new dvd of the gate, tibor takacs 1986 classic low budget horror which stars a young stephen dorff and also features some outstanding stop motion effects.
awesome little horror this which has been put together with some skill and imagination and which in comparison puts a lot of other bigger budgeted horror productions to shame.
another thing even though it is aimed at a younger horror audience - it was rated pg-13 in the states and a 15 here in the u.k it still makes for some good creepy viewing.
the new region 1 dvd features some great extras and a really great transfer to dvd, this is the first time i've watched the gate in its intended widescreen ratio and it dosen't half make a difference.
another one i watched was
1983's arcade set T&A comedy joysticks which was directed by greydon clark who made the fun 1980 sci-fi horror without warning and it stars scott mcginnis and joe don baker who had both appeared in clark's earlier bonkers & very funny 1982 horror spoof wacko.
despite its bad rep i've always enjoyed joysticks, if you watch it with your brain in neutral and don't go into it expecting anything that resembles a decent plot or good performances (i don't know who would expect either with a t&a comedy named joysticks) you should have an entertaining 1hr 30mins.
it has an abundance of classic 80s video game footage featuring the likes of pole position, jungle hunt, defender,ms pacman, centipede etc. http://youtu.be/KhJh4mKLod0.
here's someone else's review who liked it(not) from imdb.
Worst Film of the 1980's, 4 January 1999
Author: Ddey65 from United States
Forget about movies like "Heaven's Gate," "Ishtar," and "Howard the Duck,"(which I think was a better comic book). THIS was the worst film of the 1980's. When I saw it the first time, I didn't think it was that bad. But now, I'd see the three I just mentioned, before I ever see this one again. And I had such high hopes for it, too.
in my oppinion joysticks is nowhere near the worst of the 80s,i can't compare it to any of three major box office flops mentioned above as i've never seen them but i've seen dozens of movies a lot,lot worse.
i watched this on a dvd rip i purchased on ebay some time back which looks like it's a copy of the old laserdisc release.
plus i watched the tom hanks 1985 comedy the man with one red shoe for the first time which features a star studded cast including charles durning, carrie fisher, lori singer, dabney coleman, gerrit graham, edward herrmann and james belushi, that's some cast for a movie that seemed to dissapear under many peoples radar and i'm sure it went straight to home video here in the u.k.
from imdb
Storyline Cooper,(dabney coleman) the deputy director of the CIA, wants to be the director. So, he tries to smear the director (charles durning) into resigning or being removed. The director, who knows that Cooper has been bugging him, feeds him some false information--that there's a man who might be able to clear of the charges against him will be arriving at the airport, so he sends his man, Brown (edward herrmann) to meet him. Brown was just suppose to make contact with anyone at the airport thus making Cooper believe that he is the man who can help the director. Brown picks Richard (tom hanks)cause he is wearing mismatched shoes, one of them being red. So Cooper sets up surveillance on Richard and sends his femme fatale, Maddy (lori singer) to come on to him and find out what he knows. While Maddy is playing, Richard actually falls for her.
i found this to be a fairly enjoyable though far from spetacular comedy which has a much better cast than it really warrants.
but saying that, though it is no comedy classic i still feel there is enough here to keep most people reasonabaly entertained and with its first rate cast and some good chuckles through out you could still do a lot worse than spending an hour 30 minutes of your time viewing it.
so overall like i said no comedy classic but it's still definitely worth a watch!

Delicious goofball performance by Eric Roberts. (and an incredible hairdo) The character he plays here isn't that much different than the character he played in Runaway Train the following year. He perfected the role, and got himself nominated for an Oscar.
Mickey Rourke, Daryl Hannah, Burt Young, Tony Musante, Frank Vincent and Kenneth McMillan complete the cast.
Eric Roberts and Kenneth McMillan would meet again on the set of Runaway Train, although they don't share any scenes there.
Kenneth McMillan also played John Rourke senior in Reckless.
