Watched Johnny Handsome (1989) earlier this week. It´s an entertaining movie but the 1980s was so strong era for director Walter Hill, that this might be the weakest of his 80s films.
Mickey Rourke did a good job and it´s always nice to see Lance Henriksen and Morgan Freeman. Ellen Barkin did a fun role as Sunny Boyd and she had few cool outfits. Forest Whitaker and Elizabeth McGovern also co-star.

"Emily, a raw recruit to a law firm is sent to Brazil with Claudia to help finalise a real estate deal. Emily is innocent and vulnerable, and when she's left in Rio with Wheeler, a milionaire with an unusual outlook on life, Emily is shocked and intrigued by the sex antics to which she is exposed." (IMDb)
What a great movie directed by Zalman King. So atmospheric and sexy. Mickey Rourke was fantastic as James Wheeler. So cool and decadent, what a fun and sleazy character Carré Otis, what a babe! Too bad she didn´t make more movies during the early 90s. Wild Orchid co-stars Jacqueline Bisset and Bruce Greenwood.
Loved the locations (Rio de Janeiro, Bahia), the music, the fashion and the magical feel.
i watched tapeheads starring john cusack and tim robbins and i know it gets very mixed reviews but i thought a lot of it was just downright hilarious.
cusack and robbins were both great and you can tell they were having a lot of fun here.
lots of well known faces here - clu gulager, doug mcClure, weird al yankovic, bobcat goldthwait etc.
some of the gags and bizzare plot developments will leave you looking puzzled but the majority of it does hit the target ,the scene where cusack and robbins are filming the dying mans reading of his will in the hospital might be in real bad taste but boy was it funny!

Racial drama about South-Africa's apartheid regime starring Donald Sutherland, Susan Sarandon, Zakes Mokae (from The Serpent and The Rainbow), Jurgen Prochnow (once again playing a sinister badguy), and Marlon Brando who got an Oscar nomination for best supporting role here.

Eight teenagers are trapped after hours in a high tech shopping mall and pursued by three murderous security robots out of control. -- IMDb
How misleading is the cover!? I thought "Chopping Mall" was OK. It's about as scary as an episode of "Lassie", but I'm not going to hold that against it.
Nice to see, Angela "Bachelor Party" Aames in this, albeit briefly. Posts: 1121 | From: Emirates Stadium | Registered: Apr 2007 | Site Updates: 0

Watched The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) last weekend. It´s a good comedy musical with a cool cast. Burt Reynolds, Dolly Parton, Dom DeLuise, Charles Durning and Jim Nabors. Great to see Parton in lingerie plus DeLuise and Durning were awesome once again.
"A group of reservists ("weekend warriors") are sent to Honduras to build a runway. Shortly after arriving an engineering group is sent to a small village to repair a bridge as a favor for the US Ambassador; at this point Captain John Deason begins to question who he is really building the bridge for..." (IMDb)
This was a decent made-for-tv action drama directed by Steven Hilliard Stern (The Park Is Mine etc.) Starring Stephen Collins, Evan Mirand, Michael Beach, Charles Haid, Daniel Stern, Scott Paulin and James Tolkan.
It´s a slow moving movie but you will get to know the characters pretty well. Few of them die in the end so it´s kinda sad film. The score was composed by one of the greatest, Brad Fiedel (not among his best ones though).

Vision Quest is a coming of age movie in which high school wrestler Louden Swain decides he wants to be something more than an average high school athlete and sets his sights on a prize that many don't think he can win - he then sets out to reach his goal alone, without much support from his father or coach. His father rents a room to a young drifter, Carla. Swain falls in love with her and she helps him stay focused and prevents him from losing sight of his goals. -- IMDb
I'm really glad I decided to pick this up. It's silly, but great fun to watch.
Linda Fiorentino, is awesome. I think I'd have followed her to California.
I can't get "Only The Young" out of my head, which is a good thing, as that song is awe-inspiring.
You have to respect, Louden Swain, for wanting to wrestle, shute, after seeing this:
Louden Swain: I'm gonna drop down to 168 and wrestle Shute Kuch: SHUTE? Shute's a monster! A genuine geratoid! His own father has to use a livewire to keep him from ****in' the fireplace!

Jonathan plays a game called Gotcha in which he hunts and is hunted by other students with paint guns. After a big win, he goes off for a vacation in France where he meets the sexy Sasha who says she is only interested in him because he is a virgin. She takes him with her to East Germany where they are separated and he has to escape back to the west on his own, all the while being trailed by East German spies. He arrives home only to find the game is still going on, and a canister of film is in his backpack. Then Sasha re-appears. -- IMDb
I hadn't seen this in years, but It still holds up well. Anthony Edwards(w Hair!!) and Linda Fiorentino were both excellent. I loved the scenes in the DDR, the tension is palpable.
There was some humour mixed in though:
Linda Fiorentino looking effortlessly sexy.
I asked 'Kul Kult', what they thought of this movie. You know what they said:
It was just so cool to me to imagine building my own space ship as a kid, out of a carnival ride like those guys did...and just hover over the earth with my two good friends.
Snacks and all
