Hello! I'm so happy to have stumbled on this site as there is an 80's movie that has been bugging me for YEARS. Please help ;-)

It had to have been between 1981 and 1984... I believe it took place in a post-atomic setting very similiar to the Mad Max movies. I vaguely remember an opening scene where the main characters (male and female... female with dark hair) are eating and there's a joke about the food actually being dog.

There is a band of evil characters that scream "Mad Max" and may even be alien (but look very human just large and muscular and possibily deformed?)

Well... at some point the characters are taken to a setting that's like an obstacle course of death and I think there is crowds of people watching the "contestants". It looks like a 4X4 track where the people run from this massive killing machine with drills or something... there's a portion where the people have to crawl through these large metal "spokes" (think massive "jacks" with many points) pieces which usually slowed them enough so that the machine would reach them.

The female character is put in the course and I think she's saved by the machine breaking down somehow.

There's another scene where I believe the bad guy has these slave women which were brainwashed or transformed somehow. I just remember the bad guy making the girls flash him and him saying "yessss" or "excellent" or something...

Ugh... I just re-read what I wrote and its so vague! I saw this movie when I was very little. For the longest time I thought it was one of the Mad Max movies, but I recently bought them and they are not it.

Anyone have any ideas?...

I was thinking Space Hunter too when I read Jedite's description.
I remember there were 3 girls who crash landed in an escape pod on a planet in the forbidden Zone and Peter Strauss (sp) was a bounty hunter who goes in to rescue them for the reward. He teams up with a very young Molly Ringwald who is a scavenger on the planet and never shuts up! Together they go to rescue the girls. There is a scene where they are in some sort of arena.
It's been awhile since I've seen it. I have it on DVD and I saw it back in the '80s when it originally played at the theater in 3-D! It was just too cool.
It definately has that "Mad Max" feel to it with everyone wearing dirty leather and chains and stuff like that. I liked the cool vehicle that Space Hunter and Ringwald rode around in. It puts Hummers to shame!
