Well, i have yet to pick up a whole bunch of stuff i had ordered. Most are releases that came out in december. The shop where i buy most of my imports isn't exactly nearby though. It's about 110 kilometers from where i live. So i only go there when there's a lot of stuff for me to pick up. About once every six weeks or so. In december there weren't really that many dvd's or blu-ray's released which i had ordered. There's some mainstream stuff though that came in, including the afore-mentioned Clue and Throw Momma From The Train on blu-ray. Some other titles which i had ordered are Mean Streets, Network, and Gremlins 2, all on blu-ray. I definitely need to go and pick them up before the february releases start arriving though. February and march look like they're going to be extremely busy (read: expensive) when it comes to buying dvd's / blu-ray's. I picked up alot of children's movies on VHS but also Revenge of the Nerds II along with them. The local thrift store had them marked down to 3 for $1!

There's a great review of War Dog in a book called Swedish Sensationsfilms. Here are some excerpts:
,..This incredibly flipped-out action movie is an astonishingly violent, ruthless orgy of gunfights, explosions, blood, dismembodied limbs, and nasty violence..'
,..The attitude toward violence against kids is completely apathetic, as children are shot and maimed for the camera just like everyone else..'
,..One fistfight between hard-boiled men is so brutal it makes Fight Club look like Sunday school..'
,..The over-the-top approach is so complete that the lack of any other qualities is quickly forgotten..'
,..Up there with The Ninja Mission, War Dog is undoubtedly among the very best Swedish action movies..'
Well, that certainly grabbed my attention ! Posts: 983 | From: The Netherlands | Registered: Jun 2011 | Site Updates: 0

My first movie-shopping spree of the year brought me the following titles amongst others :
The Shout! Factory dvd / blu-ray combo-packs The Nest, Prison, Death Valley, The Island, and the TerrorVision / The Video Dead double-feature. Surprisingly, they were already shipped. Official release-dates for three of these was set for february 19th.
Also added to my collection : The great trash-fest Miami Connection (1987) :

Here's one that i got some weeks ago when the site was down. It certainly deserves to be mentioned, since it's another fantastic release by UK's Arrow label.
The disc contains both the black-and-white, as well as the colorized version of this truly one-of-a-kind, Oingo-Boingo extravaganza, starring Susan Tyrrell who sadly passed away last year.

Just ordered Adventures in Babysitting and Cocktail on blu-ray
I haven't seen the first film before, so I'm hoping it lives up to the reviews I've read....

Blame It On Rio (1984), starring Michael Caine, a young Demi Moore, and the lovely Michelle Johnson.
Lately, it seems like older MGM dvd's are quickly going out-of-print here. So i thought i'd pick this one up while it was still in stock.

I can live with the St. Elmo´s Fire cover art but "About Last Night..." Horrible! On the other hand, the original poster also looked pretty bland.

Still i hate it though, when they use new artwork on these blu-ray releases. Last november, Beverly Hills Cop parts 2 and 3 were released here on blu-ray, and the pictures of Eddie Murphy they used on these new covers seem to have been from the same photo-shoot as the one they used for the cover of part 1. You can hardly distinguish the three anymore.

The studios have no respect anymore. Axel Foley should do his banana trick against the art department executives Posts: 5122 | From: Finland | Registered: Feb 2008 | Site Updates: 7
