The Fly actually won an Academy Award, for Best Makeup. Chris Walas and Stephan Dupuis shared the honors for orchestrating Goldblum's descent into Brundlefly.
The film's director, David Cronenberg, has a cameo in this film as the doctor who helps Ronnie deliver her maggot baby.
Even though that famous "Help me, please help me" of the tiny half-fly in the original film is not present in this movie, it did appear in print ads.
