During the making of the film, Bridgitte Nielsen, the actress who played Drago's wife Ludima, was engaged to Sylvester Stallone.

Sylvester Stallone was carrying only 5 percent body fat whilst filming for rocky 4. Realistically, if Rocky had reduced his calorie intake so drastically that he appears more like a 'bodybuilder' in the ring as opposed to a 'real' boxer (George Foreman bodytype for example), he would have been too weak to fight Drago.

Despite what a lot of people in the USA think, Dolph Lundgren is from Sweden and not Russia as depicted in the movie.

Dolph came to the USA to study chemical engineering at MIT but got involved in modelling and acting. He was dating Grace Jones at the time and had appeared in the Bond movie briefly with her.

Rocky IV was one of his first auditions and virtually before he could even speak, he was dismissed for being too tall. Only six months later, after filmmakers had seen virtually everyone (8000 actors auditioned allegedly), was he recalled for another try.

Stallone remembers that originally, he was looking for a 'big hairy monster' to play the part but after failing to find what he was looking for, he decided to try a different tack.. The man-of-the future ..a kind of sci-fi engineered villain.. Which led back to Lundgren.

Stallone and Lundgren then trained together for 5 months.

"Rocky IV' is the only film in the series in which Rocky is referred to professionally by another nickname than "The Italian Stallion". In the pre-fight commentary, the American commentator refers to Rocky as "The Iron Horse."

Rocky IV is the highest grossing of the franchise and the highest sports film of all time.

During the second training montage, Drago is once again seen hitting the pad that measures the pounds of pressure per square inch. The number shown is 1850. The second number shown is 1990. If you're a ROCKY bluff like I am, you will remember that ROCKY V was released in the year 1990.

Bogus Trivia

There's often fake stuff floating round, y'know? -Like the 'ghost boy' that can allegedly be seen in "Three Men And A Baby".

But, nothing bogus that we know yet for "Rocky IV".
