In the beginning, Jesse's little sister is eating a cereal called Fu Man Chews, which is, among other things, a reference to a film by Boris Karloff.
Clu Gulager is better known as Burt from "Return of The Living Dead". Which is also a good film.

In this film they say that Nancy's mother was killed on the front porch, while in number three: Dream Warriors, Nancy says her mother died in her sleep.

There is no evidence in the first film that the character of Nancy has or is keeping a diary, although one is found in this film.

In the opening scene, when Freddy takes over the bus, in two seperate shots the bus heads straight for the camera which is situated on the floor. Whether these cameras were harmed in any way, who knows?

It was once reported (whether true or not?) that Robert Englund (who plays freddy), wasnt going to make any more NOES movies, because he was starting to have nightmares himself.

"Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master", is the only film out of the entire series with a 15 certificate.

Mark Patton (who plays Jesse) originally applied for the part of Glen, Heather Lagenkamp's boyfriend in the 1st Nightmare On Elm Street, but the part was given to actor Johnny Depp instead. However, he cemented the role of Jesse in Nightmare 2.
