Director Lawrence Kasdan felt bad about cutting Kevin Costner's parts (that were filmed as college flashbacks, but cut because test audiences laughed at the period hair and clothing styles).He promised the actor a better part in his next movie. That next movie was Silverado, and Costner had a co-starring role that launched his acting career.
