Actor Bronson Pinchot was originally slated to reprise the role of Serge, but wasn't willing to let his sitcom "Perfect Strangers" go on hiatus (as Bronson tells it, the filmmakers may have gotten the series cancelled entirely to sign him, but he found that unacceptable and refused to appear). He did play Serge again in Beverly Hills Cop 3, a year after "Perfect Strangers" ended its run.
