Producer Don Simpson helped put this Film together and it was an obvious anti racist Film.

A member of the NAACP visited the set one day without permission or warning for the director Sam Fuller who was offended and had him sent away. Later before the Film was to be released, a rumor started that it was a racist Film and that it would inspire people to make racist attack dogs like in the Film.

Paramount apparently called in Sam Fuller and told him they were shelving the Film indefinitely. Sam Fuller explains in his autobiography that it crushed him and he relocated to Paris after that with his family.

White Dog was eventually screened on US cable t.v. in January, 1984. But it was so radically re-edited that the dog no longer just attacked black people, but was a dog that merely attacked unsuspecting victims!
