This movie was shot back to back with the rather dissapointing sequel "Allan Quatermain and the lost city of gold". Although the latter film was not released until 1987.

Apparantly the production was cursed. So Director J. Lee Thompson called in an African witch doctor to bless the set and appease the gods.
