The film's original title was "Killbots" (and the prop makers still refer to the robots that way). This would have made a much better name for the movie, since there's no actual chopping in it.

Director Jim Wynorski provided the voices of the three Protector robots.

Kelli Maroney did most of her own stunts.
Sherman Oaks Galleria, one of the film's two main locations, has figured in a few other 80s' films, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Innerspace and Commando.

The TV network version has some minutes of aerial stock footage of Los Angeles added, as well as some more voice-over dialoge between the robot technicians and more scenes of Alison and Ferdy watching Attack Of The Crab Monsters on the TV set, like a small homage to Attack of the Crab Monsters.

Also an extension of one of the Ferdy/Allison scenes.
