Since this was Dolly's first acting gig in a movie, she thought she was supposed to memorize the whole script - AND SHE DID. And not just her part, she memorized eveything!

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin fell into fits of laughter when Dolly Parton told them she thought a movie was filmed scene-by-scene, the order it was written in the screenplay!

While writing and performing the song "Nine to Five" to Jane and Lily, Dolly kept the rhythm by strumming her finger nails?
