For those of you first visiting, welcome to the web's favorite 80s Movies site. I hope you enjoy your visit and please have a good look around. We've tried very hard over the last 8 years to give you the very best retro movies site we could, with nearly 600 classics covered in depth.

If you've visited before, welcome back! As you might have guessed through the slowdown of updates this last year, I've been up to something big... Well, this site has remained in largely the same format for a good few years now and I'm very excited to give the first heads-up on a massive, sitewide rewind of this site in this coming year...

The new Rewind approaches... This whole site -and the technology that powers it, our homegrown PageBuild site engine- are due to be replaced with an all new series of technologies.

Designed to be the most comprehensive movies site technology ever, these updates will mean that all your favorite features of the site will all be greatly improved and, in fact the whole scope of the site will change up a few gears! We've also listened to your suggestions and, for example, you'll be able to contribute and interact much more (& painlessly!) than ever before...

Update 25th April 2008: Not Too Long Now... Just an utterly endless amount of dotting of 'i's and crossing of 't's...

Update 3rd Oct 2007: Tens of thousands of updates...

No kidding. We're really rolling now... Just a few days ago on Sunday we quietly implemented a major change to the site made possible by the new iRewind update, below.

Apart from a few cosmetic changes (just as a stop-gap before the new site), the site is now using part of our new systems for the movie trivia etc. Over the last year, our senior editor, Kara has been working extremely hard adding the existing trivia to the new system while checking it and making literally tens of thousands of updates --including new trivia submissions that were queued up. I cannot say enough about how hard it has been to do this. Literally over a year stuck at the computer!

Of course, a few errors will remain, but as some of our eagle-eyed visitors will have noticed, there is now a button next to any trivia item that allows registered users to make a one-click update or correction...

Update 25th Sept 2007: The Roll-Out Continues...

We're very proud to finally release the next big update that brings us ever closer to the all new Rewind...

iRewind is at the core of the how you will interact with the new site when it gets here. It brings the whole thing together with one, simple interface and registered users* will be able to use one account for everything at the site.

iRewind will allow us to provide loads more features whilst protecting everyone's privacy and speeding everything up... Big time. Much of iRewind's magic will only be apparent when the new site arrives but for now, registered users can contact us, submit trivia (etc) updates or corrections with just one click and iRewind will keep you informed as to what's going on.

Because I've decided to give iRewind a good shake-down by releasing some of it early, many of you will be able to use your existing iRewind login from the messageboard* to do these things starting right now. Over the coming weeks more features will be added.

For example, submitted updates (etc) will now be presented directly to editors working on the relevant pages and this guarantees much quicker updates. Not only that but, as well as the named credit (we've always given on the pages for people who help us with updates), registered users will now receive recognition in their profile and iRewind Reward Points for their help. And we all know what points mean...?

... More will be revealed on this later...

In fact, much of this will only truly make sense when the new site arrives but this brings us a big step closer to that day. Sorry things are taking so long, but you wouldn't believe how much work is involved in getting these things right...

Meanwhile, work will continue constantly to bring the next version of the whole site. Once again, I'm sorry its taking so long, but it will be worth the wait, I promise. Hundreds of thousands of updates and improvements. Literally years of work has gone into it... And we're not that far off. Like the Death Star in Return of the Jedi, it's mostly done.

After that, a massive further update will bring the most interactive and comprehensive filming locations project to the Rewind with a massive interactive locations engine...
