The theatre in the beginning of the movie was University theatre on Bloor Street in Toronto that was closed down in 1986. It is currently a Pottery Barn. [Thanks to Daniel Chrisjohn]

Saw the movie again for the first time in years on CBC recently. Had to laugh when I recognized half of the locations in my neighbourhood, west toronto. The McKenzie house - Uno Road in the Royal York/Queensway area, located approximately behind the current beer store on Queensway.

Where the cops start to take chase - Lakeshore/Superior in Mimico - where the Canadiana restaurant is (shown in the movie too!)

The brewery building exteriors - the former Hearn power generation facility in the Toronto portlands.

The mental institute is the RC Harris water treatment facility in the Toronto eastern beach. [Thanks to Dave Tabor]
