D.A.R.Y.L. Filming Locations:
Bizzarely, production and shooting of D.A.R.Y.L was split between the the USA and England!
Studio sets were constructed at Pinewood studios west of London and exteriors were shot on location in Orlando, Florida and the communities of Dillsboro and Brevard in North Carolina, USA.
Airport scenes were shot on location at Kissimmee Gateway Airport, near Orlando, FL. Built in 1942, Kissimmee Airport is only 8 miles from the attractions of Orlando and has grown greatly since filming.
I am not sure that this location was the "lab", but in the movie, it is a building that was shown several times. It is in the Quadrangle near the University (on University Ave.). At that time it was the Orlando headquarters of Westinghouse Power Generation. Now it is the Orlando headquarters of Siemens Energy. Internally, (that is, within Siemens) it is known as Quad I and Siemens has a complete campus of buildings in the immediate area. This is the building with the large circular drive/parking area and the front of the building has a semi-circular section that matches the drive. [Thanks to Jerry Hammons]
According to IMDb, the location of D.A.R.Y.L.'s memory banks and computer lab was allegedly the computer lab at Disney's EPCOT Center.
My mom worked as the nurse at Great Oaks Village in Orlando at the time. Several of the scenes were shot there. [Thanks to Karen]
The school and classroom scenes were shot at Kaley Elementary School on Kaley Avenue in Orlando, Florida. I was an extra in one of those scenes because that was my Elementary school! [Thanks to Jenny Schweickert]
Although many sources have stated that Alpes-Maritimes, France was used, we don't know which scenes. Also, the credits make no mention of it. But Mohan kindly wrote in to suggest that the scenes that were shot at Alpes-Maritimes in France were the climactic ones, where Daryl ejects and plunges into the lake.
The scene where he plunges into the Lake was shot in Lake County, Fl. Eustis to be exact, the name of the Lake was Trout Lake, I remember being a kid and watching them film that scene. [Thanks to Justin Broadway]
