Locations Manager(s): On Location
The impossibility of finding a real residence with the same rooms and layout as those of the "Clue" game necessitated the designing and construction of an American Gothic Mansion, one of the largest and most lavish Hollywood sets in years. On Stage 18 at Paramount Studios, the beautiful but ominous house on the hill was created by veteran production designer John Lloyd in the high style of old Hollywood.
The conservatory in the movie is a greenhouse, not a music room as on the game board.
The other rooms in the movie, such as the upstairs, basement, etc. were created on Stage 17.
The furniture and accessories are all 18th and 19th century antiques. Props were rented from real mansion, including Teddy Roosevelt's home in upstate New York. [Thanks to AJ Rybarczyk]Can you help?
