Under their watchful eye, the following special places were used for filming "Breathless":
Several scenes were shot in Westwood Village--the business area right in front of UCLA. [Thanks to Diane C.]
Richard Gere picks up Valerie Kapriski while she's awaiting the bus downtown in front of the Veteran's Memorial Cemetary in West Los Angeles. Oddly, she's waiting on the East side of Sepulveda Blvd, which means the bus picking her up would be headed to the Valley, not Downtown. Which makes this a goof and location info. [Thanks to Tom]
The Hotel referred to as "Frank Lloyd Wrong" is the Bonaventure on Figueroa in downtown LA. [Thanks to Tom]
The bickering mother and child get out of their car in front of a Gaudi-esque garage to a house on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills just above Santa Monica blvd. Interestingly, the main house facing Rodeo was a rather plain bungalow until years later when a new, Gaudi-inspired main house was built. [Thanks to Tom]
The final scenes of the movie are filmed at the entrance to the Wattles Mansion off of Franklin, and the (at the time) recently burned down Lloyd Wright (Frank's son) pool house of the old Huntington Hartford estate (now Runyon Canyon park) [Thanks to Tom]
Can you help? Do you know any of the Los Angeles, S. California filming locations used for Breathless? Please Update Us
Locations LinksIf you know of a good link for Breathless locations, please let us know.
LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
