Review

All he wanted was to do his time and move on with his life.

But that all changed on one fateful day.

This is the story of Joe Fisk (Sheffer), sentenced to a prison camp for boys, who was running through the woods one day and stumbled upon a beautiful girl lying in the water.

It was love at first sight.

This was Lisa Taylor (Madsen) from a nearby Catholic school for girls, who too, was smitten.

She happens to arrange a school dance between the members of her class and the guys from the reformatory, but that only fueled their fire to be together. Secret notes, forbidden phone calls, sneaking out at night – they will do whatever it takes to be together.

Not even the law will keep them apart...

...And anybody who attempts to come between them had better come prepared to fight Fire with Fire.

A true 80’s masterpiece, Fire with Fire is a story of love and will. Labeled as a “teen” movie, it is quite enjoyable for all ages.

This film has everything from action, adventure, drama, romance and comedy (not to mention a killer soundtrack.)

In my opinion, this is Virginia Madsen and Craig Sheffer at their best. They make a perfect couple and you can relate to their characters. The rest of the cast also does a great job with their characters and compliment Sheffer and Madsen very well.

Non-stop action from beginning to end, an all-around great film. What I term “a must have.”

Verdict

In my opinion, if you have never seen this movie, get it today.

I have watched it dozens of times and never get tired of it. It truly is a 'must have' if you are a fan of 80’s movies. I promise you it will not disappoint.

The characters themselves are the real strength of this film. Like I said before, they are easy to relate to and portray exactly what everyone wants – true love. Good acting and a great soundtrack, it has something for everyone.
The pace early on has been criticised as too slow but I find this endearing as it builds depth of character.

Other than that, I can honestly say that I can find no weaknesses with this movie. That may be because it is one of my favorites. Check it out and draw your own conclusions...
