All right, so always being so slow in doing everything, I just started watching Xena last year. I downloaded the first season to see if I'd like it, and then I bought the first three seasons after watching it. Now I ordered the last three seasons, and I'm really excited. It was a good show.

I also downloaded some Hercules, but I'm not sure if buying a season of it was a good idea. Comparing the two shows, it's obvious which is the better half...well, dramatically anyway. The show is good, campy fun, and when there's an idea that another show throws out, Hercules can and will use it. "Here, this fight scene is going to be...in a seamonster's stomach! Yeah! And by the way, you're married to a deer." "What?" "But she's golden, so it's okay. Oh, and her blood can kill you." "Well that works out then." My favorite character is Iolus, which is nice because sometimes they'll have an episode where Hercules doesn't show up at all. I loved The Apple, where Aphrodite, Artemis, and Athena had Iolus judged who was the most beautiful, and each of them had their own bribes for him. The fantasy where he was the greatest warrior was great. "Hercules? The sandals." "Oh! Sorry." "It's okay." Plus there's always the obligatory peasant wrongly imprisoned for stealing food for his family.

As for Xena, the show is usually more character-oriented, which is nice. I like me a fight scene, but Hercules has to start coming up with some really lame excuses to fight sometimes. Gabrielle was nice until she got a storyline. Also, Joxer is one of my favorite characters. I'm such a sucker for the goofy, unerrated guys.

Also, Autolycus is an awesome character, if only because he's played by Bruce Campbell.

Anyway, just wanted to talk about the shows for a little bit. Considering most of you guys talk about things from over two decades ago, I think it isn't too old to start up a topic about. [Wink]

I believe they were all handled by Sam Rami's production company, and you can't accuse Sam of not being able to tell a good story!
