Anybody else see it yet?
I thought it was good... I loved the fight scenes! However, I was disappointed that some of the cool new mutants didn't have that much screen time. I wanted to see more of Angel!
Storm & Wolverine were awesome as well as Kelsey Grammer as Beast.
I enjoyed it very much, but I think I enjoyed the last one more.
What did you guys think?

I am debating going to see it in a couple hours, I think I might go. My son wants to see it really bad, he was reading reviews on it, he said someone gave it a 10 out of 10 on imdb, and said it was the best Xmen movie. I liked part 1, but part 2 was just ok. But, my problem with these movies, is that superheros have become these killing machines, and it is nothing but fighting and killing...and that doesn't seem to be admirable in my opinion no matter what the reason is.

I give it a 7 on a 1-10 scale. The biggest letdown for me was the fact that they could have done more with Phoenix but didn't.......

Superheroes have always had to kill for survival in many instances. They change with the times just like movies, music, and television. What would be the solution? To make everything kid friendly? LOL

I went and saw it, and I absolutely loved it, we all did. I think it was the best Xmen movie yet.
I was shocked that I liked it as much as I did, I think this is a classic case of a movie that isn't properly previewed. I love when all the original cast of a movie are back in the sequels. I thought the story line made sense. The only complaint I have about it, is like Bigfoot said...you don't see much of Angel (nobody even calls him by that name in the movie- he only says a handful of words)...the kid playing him was pretty cute. There are so many different characters that nobody really has that big of a part, and they are all so cool. I think the guy that plays Bobbie is cute. There were some sad parts, that I didn't expect. I thought it was awesome when they went to Jean Grey's house, and how Storm rised up in to the air, and then started spinning, she was awesome in this movie-I wanted her to knock the heck out of that one girl with the piercing in her chin. I didn't even realize who Collosus (sp?) even was...my son told me at the end, he had barely any part. I like the girl I think her name is Katie, that Bobbie took Ice skating. I liked that it wasn't all action and there was a storyline, actually I did not think it was as violent as I thought it was going to be. We would all go see it again. I was shocked there was only about 20 people at the movies. I don't honestly know how movie theaters are going to stay in buisness, our theater just under went a total remodel, but I don't know how...because they don't make that much money. I would go see Xmen-The Last Stand at the Drive-In. I saw the preview for The Omen, and this preview I saw didn't look too bad, but the kid in it doesn't look anything like the other kid, it was bad casting just based on looks, cause that kid didn't look like the devil, where the old one the kid looked the part.

I totally recommend Xmen.

I think Superman looks pretty lame, but I am hoping it is good.

I think the end of the Xmen movie, left it wide open for things to not look as grim as they were for some of them.

I thought Xmen 2- was too hard to follow, maybe I wasn't paying attention to the whole thing...I didn't think it was that good.

I thought the scenes where they showed the Xavier School-I thought that was gorgeous, who wouldn't want to go to school there.

I wanted to see them show more of Rogue there at the end, because of what she did...and then they didn't show anything, you knew what she did...but it could have been made to be more dramatic and emotional.

My son thought when The Beast started kicking butt that he was pretty cool stuff. I thought the make up job on him was pretty darn good.

I am surprised I liked it, but I really did, I am glad I went to see it.

HATED IT! I have been reading X-Men since I was a kid. They killed people off that did not die in the comics, or did not die in that way! Way do these Hollywood jerks want to ruin the true X-Men storylines and alienate it's core audience?

If it wasn't for fans like me who have been buying these comics for over twenty years, this movie would have never been made. They really screwed it up and it P.isses me off to no end. It sux they have ruined a comic and characters that I deeply love.

Just another case of crappy hollywood....

Well, I didn't read any of the comics, but I can see why that stuff bothers someone who did.

I did say they have too many people in the movie to give any substance to it, it does make you want to see way more of the movie. My son said after we left that he forgot that we should have stayed that they were going to show a clip of the movie that was taken out, it was only 1 hour & 45 minutes long, why didn't they leave it in, this is a case where they could have had more movie.

Mystique was barely in it (literally), so was Scott, but at least it was the original people and they were in it a little bit.

They did have a story line going with Bobbie and Rogue, but that's the part at the end I wanted to see more happening.

I thought those tattooed and pierced Mutants that Magneto had as his followers were just people they probably plucked of the streets of Hollywood, and wanted to save money on their wardrobe and make up department, cause they were already suited up for the parts...that one that did the shockwave-I wasn't sure if that was a man or a woman.

But...see , that is my whole problem with any new movie today anyway, so I tried to not even go there and pick them apart-because that is the part of every new movie and the stuff about today's whole lifestyle that I can't get in to it.

The Phoenix thing was strange....I couldn't believe even as bad as Magneto was that he didn't realize what a nut job she was.

Logan had the hots for Jean from the first one, so they carried that through the whole way, but I didn't really think it was much of anything.

This movie was an effects movie all the way, and that's what I looked at it as.

When they were in training at the beginning-I thought that whole thing was really cool.

It was billion times better than Poseidon, and there is nothing else to go see, so if you want to go see a movie today, to me that was as good as it gets...to me it blew King Kong out of the water-I hated that movie.

The movie disappointed me because of the lack of heart. But, on the bright side, they got rid of a few characters I wouldn't really miss. I think if they were going to give Halle Berry a bigger part, they should have at least done something with her character besides comment on her hair and make her eyes do that white thing we saw in the last two movies. Cool characters were underused, and the ones they did use didn't have anything interesting happen to them. They didn't really use the cure to it's full potential, I think. I liked Angel, and the flashback of him as a kid was great, but there wasn't any point to him being there at all. In fact, there wasn't really a point of anyone being there except about three or four people. Jean was boring and her story didn't make sense, but she looked cool as the Phoenix anyway. Xavier seemed irrational and kinda creepy. Logan did his anguish thing but not much else. Kitty was a nice addition (the only new addition that contributed anything and had character development), but the whole Rogue/Bobby/Kitty thing seemed kinda forced. I did like the new stuff they did with Bobby's powers, though.

I loved when Boobie battled Pyro...I thought that was really "COOL".

My son asked me what everyone on the Rewind was saying about the movie, and I said most people didn't like it that well, and he said why? and I said because they didn't develop the characters that much, and he said you knew who they all were for the first 2 movies, so what were they suppose to be doing with them. He said he's glad they left out Nightcrawler-cause he couldn't stand him.

He liked the storyline...the whole finding a cure for the mutation...to where Storm was saying ...that's like saying there was something wrong with them, and there wasn't, and she was trying to get the kids to appreciate how unique they were-just like the Professor was doing, and to be proud of that, and I thought that really was a good reason to fight for something, if there ever was one.

It is fighting for freedom, and it was almost the same thing as putting someone down based on race, so I thought that was a really good storyline. The whole thing with the Little boy being a mutant, but his mutation caused him to turn mutants in to regular humans. I just think that was a cool storyline.

Some of it was kind of far fetched, like how Jean comes back, but they gave a really simple reason for how that happened, and it seemed logical for that kind of movie, so you don't question too much about it.

We were creeped out by her, I thought she looked hideous.

We want to go see it again, and we never all feel like that ever about a new movie, so I thought it was better than any new movie I have seen in the past 2 years. I liked it better than Chronicles of Narnia...I could watch it over and over-to a point-where I have no desire to watch any movie I have seen in the past few years again. Even Crash-I liked it when I saw it, but I have no desire to watch that movie again and again-they bore me, and I don't know why it is that I can watch Valley Girl and other 80's movies every couple months and feel like I am watching them for the first time, and they always make me happy, and they never loose that thing about them that makes me like them-I don't get tired of them.

****SPOILERS****

Ok, I hated this movie for alot of reasons. The first two were ok, but even the charcter development was wrong there. Rogue was not some kid, she was already an adult in love with Gambit who they completely cut out of the films.

Wolverine is supposed to be five foot two, and rather old. He wasn't even born a mutant.

Nightcrawler wasn't in it because Halle BErry complained that she wanted more ar time. Nightcrawler is cool but they never explain to the audience that he was Mystique's son.

Jean Grey does die in the comics and comes back as the Phoenix, but she was never more powerful than Magneto Or Xavier. She was more interesting in the comics though.

Also, Cyclops never gets killed by her in the comics, that was false and stupid if you ask me.

Angel has a big part in the comics, he dies and comes back as Archangel. They wasted him in this film and it sickens me.

The cure in the film was in the books but it is not permanent as we sort of see at the end with Magneto, who never got stabbed with the cure in the comics, he never took it period.

The kid who was the cause of the cure was a Morlock, they were massacared by Gambit, which is a long story and was it's own series.

Alot of the mutants that we saw glimpses of in this film actually had big parts in the comics and were wasted here. The whole film was a waste.

Also, Beast is SOOOOOOOO smart and is usually hanging in a lab somewhere being a genius. HE was also underused and under-developed.

Oh and Professor X does not die like that, that was all crap.

That movie had it so wrong. It is a slap in the face to the millions of fans who have been loyal reades for years. If it wasn't for our interest and all the money they made off us buying the books, the movies would have never been made! So why crap on us like that and make such a horrible movie and crap on all the characters?

I HATE THIS FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I can understand why you hate it, when it is nothing like the comic, but what book ever really is redone in to a movie the same either?

My son was reading Patriot Games, and was saying about how different the book was to the movie.

I can feel for ya though, because that's EXACTLY why I hate all those stupid remakes, like the Dukes of Hazzard and Starsky and Hutch, they turned it in to garbage, and I think who the heck did that...didn't they watch the original stuff, I am cringing at the thought of the Six Million Dollar Man movie.

I still enjoyed it, but I completely understand what your saying about it...this was a movie that if I really wanted to, I could pick it apart too. But, I did like it overall, of course there's stuff I didn't like...like they never tell you how Professor X gets in the wheelchair. They show him walking 20 years before. It bugged me at the beginning when they showed 20 years earlier when they go to Jean's house (and it is the exact same house and everything they go to when she's older-and it looks exactly the same)...then they go to 10 years earlier...then they jump to somewhere in the future. That bugged me right off the bat, and it grossed me out with the bathroom scene with Angel at the beginning...but I thought it was visually really neat for the type of movie that it was...usually movies like that give me a headache because it is so unrealistic....the only time I felt a little queasey was when Wolverine was running in the woods, and that mutant with the curly spikes coming out of his arms was throwing them at him, it was very CGI then. But, the whole beginning with them training was cool, and I liked that they did learn to work as a team, cause Logan was always showing off, in the end, he did the right thing. I am so sure if I had read the comics I probably would have hated it too, and I hate when they do that to movies I loved and remake them, I did not like Poseidon at all- and I could have totally trashed that movie too, but I decided that by now when I see a movie made today- I have very little expectations going in to it...that's just the sad part of it to me, so if I don't want to walk out then that means it didn't totally suck to me.

Devolution here,

A lot of good points. It wasn't as good as either of the first movies. Those "Curly Spikes" were bones. As this was the mutant Marrow, who is supposed to be a girl.

I thought the movie was ok at best. It was very Transformers the movie as many of the important characters died.

AM I THE ONLY ONE ON THE BOARD THAT STAYED AFTER THE CREDITS FOR THE EXTRA SCENE?

If you didn't stay, I'll PM you with the info.

Many characters were used fleetingly. This was more of a bridge episodes to get the new characters in the next movie.

Well I'm off to work.

We are DEVO

Devolution here,

Ali, I agree with all of your points whole heartedly.

We are DEVO

We were like only 4 of 200 people that stayed after the credits as one of my friends read something on the internet saying to stay. It definitely did make a difference in the movie ending........

Posted by Ali_with_an_i (Member # 27) on :

I read in People Magazine that there was something after the credits. Unfortunately, it was AFTER I saw the dumb thing.

Devo- please PM me with the info, I'd like to see what the heck they did.

Thanks.

Someone PM me and tell me what the thingy at the end of the credits was. Because when the credits started I was out of there like Jumping Jack flash! (I had to pee) [Smile]

I don't think anything they could do at the end of the credits will fix all that was ruined. [Frown]

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

It didn't fix all that was ruined but it does let ya know that it's not the end with Charles Xavier..........

Okay I saw this with my nephews and son this weekend and I thought it was stupid. I loved the storyline with Jean, but with all of the popular people dying and giving no explanation of how they made the antedote for the mutant gene. Just dumb. Some cool action stuff but that was totally it. No imagination in this one at all in my opinion.

I watched the movie and I thought it was okay, but not one of the greatest movies. I felt that they tried to cover too much in the movie. The issues of Jean could have been covered in a seperate movie. Juggernaut who is awsome in the comic, is made into some kind of goof in the movie. Juggernaut should also have been covered in a seperate movie. I did like Beast though.

Posted by Ali_with_an_i (Member # 27) on :

Beast was a high point but he wasn't in it enough. He was very under-used.

I agree about Juggernaut, he looked cool but he was definitley goofy.

UUGGGH...do you guys have something against "goofs"??? [Confused] [Frown] [Wink]

I thought X3 was...*ahem*... Xcellent. I would've liked to have seen Bryan Singer complete the trilogy, but the suits must've really bounced him out of a job, otherwise (tight schedule or not) I can't see why Singer wouldn't want to wrap the saga he'd spent so long bringing to screen. Ratner was a good replacement though, because there wasn't much need for too much character development as, by now, fans will already know whos who and why they do the things they do.

Magneto made a couple of tactical errors IMO, firstly he needn’t have dropped Mystique like that, after all, if his war was based purely upon some ethno-centric idea it would never have been successful long term, even if he'd won (unless he planned a human holocaust, hence alluding to the victim turned aggressor syndrome). Secondly he should’ve just sent The Phoenix right in there straight away, none of this game of chess business, Jean was clearly unstoppable on her own.

Personally, I quite liked The Phoenix, granted, she went a bit far at times, but that was because no one seemed to know how to handle her from the beggining; they were either patronising or too eager to use her for her powers. Perhaps if they treated her properly, The Pheonix is the ultimate girlfriend / weapon, just stay out of her way when she’s PMSing and you'll be OK [Wink]

Overall, 'X3: The Last Stand' was good fun, there were some unexpected twists and the shuffling around of key chracters worked as well as can be expected, could've easily been about 30-40 mins longer but a worthy conclusion to a stellar series...I just hope they don't make anymore.
